it doesn't really need too much explanation. I've combined multiple themes into one project. i've done a badge with 3 different themes incorporated, as well as a comic with 5 themes included :)

and i'm not THAT famous :P I'm just here viewing and commenting like everyone else ^_^

lesser-known mythical creatures. We have tons of satyrs and werewolves and dragons (oh my), but what about kirin and bunyip and Jiāng Shī?

I think restitution69 has a good idea: Fluids! Drinks, lotions, slimes, oozes, potions, solutions, Gels, salves... goo-people, even!

Bodily fluids, even. Venom, poisons.. etc.

how about the theme be some setting. Like..at the beach or a camping trip.
or maybe pick the theme to be something random like....seasons of the year or colors and see who can creatively use the theme in their TF.

A general "liquid" theme would work. Flexible enough to have fun with, but still specific enough to focus people.

I think a good, and possibly humorous theme would be "Transformation Education." The challenge would be writing/drawing a character in a world where TF is not only possible, but taught. The simplest example would be a class students take to learn how, but there's still room for flexibility- as long as it's taught on a large scale (like, say, for a job), that would count as education. It could be known or unknown to the general public, and take place in a whole separate universe if you'd like. This would give a lot of freedom to the triggers, settings, and characters, and leave plenty of space for creativity.

I'm guess most people would go with puns. I actually thought about also long-term reactions. Like if they'd use the TF for their job, or something like that (just woke up, can't think of a better example).

I would much prefer the latter. Assuming the reaction was at or close to the end, I think puns that bad might ruin the whole story for me. XP

Well since the contest is likely going to go through October it only makes sense to do changes based on that most famous of holidays:ThanksEastergivingmass Transformation! You kknow, that wonderful holiday of cooked hamturkeys and presents delivered by bunnyducks in silly costumes who turn naughty children into bandersnatches and good children into jubjub birds.

Potion based TF. Maybe with pumpkin as an ingredient.

but when you think about it a lot of the themes are over done TF through magic, science, or sex and honestly its not over done as long as you change the change that happens the people that are in it the animal form the result the reaction the events leading up to it you know it can be made tons of ways . TF is like ToFu it can be prepare in many ways and comes in many different flavors lol

And, like ToFu, those can not like it in a certain way, or it's like ToFu before it was made edible. (Don't actually eat Soybeans)

Well, my first idea above was to do a 'holiday combo' transformation. That is, you pick at least two different holidays, combine them, and do a transformation that fits (like combining the Fourth of July with Thanksgiving and getting a character that turns into a baldeagle/turkey or similar).

Another idea is a 'Wonderland' transformation where folks are turned iinto one of the more fabulous beasties of Looking Glass, Wonderland or something that would fit in with such a theme.

"Long-term"? The transformation could take place over a day or more, or the pieces could show subjects dealing with the transformation in their lives.

I Agee with fudgyseel a ways up there! I have never ever ever found a human to ratchet(lombax) tf yet!!!!! And ratchet and clank was an awesome game and lombaxes are really cool looking if you ask me
