The Week There was No Internet

Dun-dun-dunnnnn! But seriously, the 23rd's tomorrow, which is the day that I start shippin' all the crud I've managed to collect over to the US. Unfortunately, this includes my computer (darn airlines won't accept it asc arry on luggage for some reason), so yes, you unlucky people won't be seeing hide nor hair of me until at -least- the 30th, when I get back home to sunny (and mostly on-fire) California! I feel sorry for you guys already!
So hey, gotta quick semi-related question for you guys: Do you think people can get addicted to the internet? Is surfin' this big ol' series of tubes like some sort of crack? I know that I spend some time every day on the interwebs, and I tend to get a bit fidgety without all my friends to talk to 'n stuff, but I'm pretty sure I can occupy myself for an entire week without breaking down and resorting to sexual favors for five minutes on AIM or something. Pretty sure. >.> So what do you guys think? Is internet addicting? Should they send me away to some sort of rehab? Do -you- need internet rehab? Discuss. I'll be back on the 30th to see what you guys think! Up, up, and away! *runs in circles with his arms out* Wssssshhh...

Surfing the net's starting to get to me. Perhaps the only surfing I should consider should be at the beach. Only thing is, I don't know how to surf, and it's been so long, I've forgotten how to swim.

It's wonderful crack for me. I get to talk to you folks, surf my news. WHile I could survive without my Internet, I don't want to.

I suppose you can be addicted to it--my friend's father is a vehement addiction counselor, and when he goes home to him during the summer between college years, the father doesn't let him use the Internet much. Hell, I get twitchy if I'm without the Internet, but that's if I don't have other things to do. If I am just siting for hours on end doing nothing, yeah, I miss chatting it up with people, watching videos, reading news, playing games. But when I have things to do, or fun things to do with people, I am less apt to realize I am without the Web. I think it's all perspective, and in the grand scheme of things, a person can become addicted to just about anything: the Internet, masturbation, washing sinks, setting fire to small kittens. Maybe you are addicted--but at the same time, is it the worst addiction you could have? Not in the least. At least it doesn't emaciate you.

*laughs* Mostly. I still have yet to access the interwebs from my own computer again!
