I beleive that at this point in your art career, the last thing you should be concerned with is how to draw digitally.

I beleive the best thing you can do for yourself is learning anatomy, texture, and lighting/shading.

Start with anatomy. Get a friend to come, take his shirt off, and pose. Allow yourself 60 seconds to draw his entire body, and then have him switch poses. allow enough space so you can draw 8 figures on one side of 8.5/11 white paper. When you can do that almost perfectly, which will take its time, switch to 30 seconds. Once youve done all that, practice adding fur textures yto your character, using only a pencil. Once you can do that, move on to shading. And once youve mastered paper entirely, get a tablet for your computer.

No offense, but you kind of missed the purpose of this Journal. I use the digital media as an inking tool. As for shading and lighting, also something I don't do on regular paper. I avoid coloring my pictures on actual medians because I can't do. Not gonna lie, it's an artistic talent I do not possess, but hey, can't win them all. Most comic artist for big named companys don't actually color their own work anyway. As for anatomy and textures, that comes with time. DeVinci didn't start off as a master and I'm not claiming to be one. I know the limititations of my visual prowest.

Also, remember, not everyone learns the same way; I'm a hands on learner, so not a lot of my knowledge of artistry comes from pure reading. Thanks for your advice, but it's wasted on someone of my current skill level, you might want to try laying your hands in those that actually claim this to be their profession. I'm an entertainer, this is just a hobby, I do it for fun, because I like to tell stories, drawing is just a side-product.

Things will definately come with time, but you should learn to walk before you can learn to run. No one was born with a talent, we all had to practice and practice and practice until it became good enough to move on to the next thing. And anatomy wont just come with time, its something you just have to sit down and practice, just like coloring, just like texture. There are tons of great tutorials on the internet to help in your ventures.

As for your comment on just doing it for fun, its the same reason most of the better artists do it. But using that as an excuse to avoid learning the basics isnt the trademark of a good artist.

I have a tablet thanks. >.> Also that's saying if I'm using actual anatomy (Which I will disagree that it won't come with time.) Because practice is time useage, which I don't have a lot of, so it's already the small steps. I'm far from the worst, nor will I ever be the best. :D I'm not final with my "style" so I'll keep on working, that's all I can do. And just because I said I do this for fun, it doesn't mean that it's an excuse that I'm avoiding the basics, because the way I see it, I've got them. They're not perfect, but they're there. I've come far from where I was, and only God knows when I'll get to where I want, but in the mean time... I'm in no rush, my full time career will keep me feed and stressing over things I can't instantly change is pointless. "Dancing through Life," baby!
