Prince of Persia (The movie)
I just finished watching the Prince of Persia movie, and I can honestly say that disney did an amazing job on it.
The movie is full of subtle, and not so subtle fan service that all fits quite well with the flow of the movie.
The sands effect was particularly great looking - Even though it is a bit of a cock tease at the dark prince's appearance.
As a fan of the games, and the atmosphere of the games, I can honestly say they respected the properties, while writing their own plot.
I won't do a full review of it, but I recommend going to see it if you had any inhibitions. It's good. and action packed.

It's a pretty fun ride, really.
If I remember correctly, his face his shown throughout when appropriate. *shrugs* the movie was fun, that's all that really mattered.
I was pretty sure it was jake though. his hair looks silly, and when I see it I go "haaw. there's jake's hair!"
but sometimes it was hard to tell EXACTLY who it was because there's a lot of motion, but you were always like "oh, it's him. he's moving fast because he's the prince of persia"
But having played all the games (cept the crappy one before the latest with a difference prince) I HATED it, they managed to destroy the story more than they do with books.
The game's story is hugely deep, the prince evolves and learns from mistakes, he unleashes the sands and is forced to kill his father and make awful choices for the good of the world, he grows darker and more ruthless, tainted by the sands and hunted by a sentinel of time before battling his darker side (literally) and saving the world again.
The film is a generic action romp with nice effects, but zero story.
What pissed me off the most is that the time control was neglible in the film, after he fixed everything he was a better person, made goo-goo eyes with the princess and everything was fine and dandy.
In the game, he reverse time and his love's forget him, things are undone and all manner of timey wimey things go wrong, to the extent the 3rd game is stopping the Bad guy from game 1, because reversing time in the 2nd meant you never killed him in the first place
So yeah, good film, unless you've played the games
but imagine them trying to cram all of that into a single movie - it would've been even /worse/. and the sad fact is that disney deals almost exclusively in happy endings x3.
not to mention, this isn't even the same prince. this movie should be looked at in the way a transformer's fan should look at the transformers movie: Same concept - not same universe.
and what was so bad about the new prince of persia? I liked it :x
(though the brand new one looks epic, they went back to the same story as the first 3)
and I liked it D: and she's not white >3> she's tan. she wears white though. and he's not emo D:
and heeey hey hey hey hey. remember the ORIGINAL prince of persia? where you were a prince who got thrown in a dungeon to die and you have an hour to save your bride from being wed to the evil jafar stand in?
sands of time has nothing in relation to THAT either. they're treating the new prince of persia as a new story, hence why he's not related to the original prince in any way, does not look like the original prince in any way, and the game plays essentially different than the other prince of persias (and is a lot more fluid and sexy, IMO~)
plus I like the new prince o3o. he's not emo, he's just mysterious. he's really chatty, though, and sounds a bit too american to be persian. but I still like him. plus that claw is badass~
ACCEPT CHANGE D:< *flails at*
(although good point, I remember playing the original game and thinking it was the best game that could ever be made)
as I've always said "nostalgia is the enemy of progress"
(that's a lie, actually. I only adopted it around the turn of retro sequels (megaman 9 and 10 to be exact)
Nostalgia for something completely murders it's ability to evolve. Case and point: the sonic franchise.
I've been a sonic fan since, like sonic 1. I've loved or at least liked just about every game with a few exceptions (Being heroes, mostly), but all around me are fans that are completely in outrage that sega doesn't devolve back to genesis era sonic and just have him running to the right and jumping.
Sonic adventure and adventure 2 were awesome games, but they're kicked aside by most of the fans. Sonic Unleashed isn't a bad game by any measure - the night time stages aren't GREAT but they're not horrible, and the daytime stages are awesome. but still fans hate it :O
sonic 4 is like if our super advanced space civilization suddenly for some reason decided that throwing rocks at an enemy battle cruiser would be more effective (in my eyes). so bleh x3.
