FWA was my first con and it was amazing. ill be back next year for sure. and ugh i cant wait.

oh i went when i was 17 haha. the only thing you cant do is go into the adult art auction. but yeah its pretty amazing. i had the time of my life.

I thought you'd need a parent? And my mom wouldn't let me go anyway so I'd have to be 18 regardless! XD

FWA is difficult because it's the most expensive US furry convention to attend. >.>

Plus if I had other peeps to room with so I didn't have to pay for a whole room myself I'm sure I could pull it off. Hell, I might even ask for it for my 18th birthday present since it's like, the month after my bday anyway.

Why not go to Furry Fiesta instead? Or one of the two camping conventions in Oklahoma? Both are drivable. I also will drive to MFM and RCFM, myself. :3

Because I won't be old enough to attend FF 11 but I will be able to attend FWA. Plus it looks like a lot of fun, and I can't drive and a furry camping trip sounds awful and disgusting honestly. XD I'd never want to go to one of those. I'd like to go to more cons, but I bet I can get at least one of the expensive things covered by my parents if I ask for it for my birthday. And I bet I'll have the cash for it anyway. Unlike most most furries I work two jobs. XD I've got money to spare. lol

You're not missing out on anything by being a minor at a furry con. I've yet to attend an adult panel, and I don't bother buying yiff at a con. *shrugs* As for hotel costs, you can split it 4 ways for the full length of the con and end up paying around $150 for FWA, where most other cons are $90-$120. Lastly, Oklacon and Wild Nights are an absolute blast. Camping = A-frame/cabin with some mixed-temperature showers, and that's about it. The rest of the con is hanging out with other people and running around being active outdoors, with occasional hiking and fun community meals. Nothing gross about it. Heck, it's less cramped than hotel cons, so even if people choose not to wash, it's less noticeable. Because don't fool yourself into thinking that doesn't happen at hotel cons too. :P

Except I need my parents to go and I wouldn't be able to drink and smoke weed if my mom was there. XD And I'd cram waaay more than 4 people into a room. 6 will easily fit. (I doubt the hotel would find out) Plus with my mom being there we'd have to have our OWN room and that would end up costing way more because it would be the two of us paying for it. Plus I'd never ask that of her. Trying to find something to do while I'm at a furry con? I'm content to wait. And It's not like I'd never go to any other cons. I just think FWA looks like fun and since it's at the perfect time why not go. Like I've said, money isn't an issue for me so why wouldn't I attend?

And yeah, I'd wanna go to a con to run around in fursuit, go to a dance, party for a few days and then go home. If I wanna go camping I'll get my friends and we'll go but I'm not really interested in spending a weekend in the woods with the furries. ^^ And I wouldn't feel comfortable taking a fursuit camping. I spent a lot of money on them and I'd rather not take them out into the woods with me. And I kinda like the crowd. I'm really social so being able to run around and meet a whole bunch of people and go to room parties is one of the things I'd want in a con.

*Sigh* And eventually you will grow up, learn that's all incredibly stupid and irresponsible, and a false sense of power. And on top of that you don't need you parent there except under 15 or something. Otherwise it's a parental consent form. Annnnnnnyway, getting onto some VERY touchy subjects, so I'm gonna bow out. Eh, I've been smoking weed for years and I was a college student making all As at 16, in my third semester at 17 and I'm working two jobs. It's working out for me and I'm highly responsible. :3 I also maintain a long term relationship, own pets, and make time for family. It's all about what kind of person you are. And I don't feel powerful when I smoke. I just feel, stoned. lol. It's really not as bad as people make it out to be and more people smoke than you know. And all cons are different. I know that at AC you have to be 18 and under 18 you have to have a parent with you at all times. It's like that at other cons too. And my mom would still never let me fly to a different state and go to a furry convention by myself. I have to be 18 so I can make the choice on my own to go and she doesn't have to go with me.

And I'd never bring drugs or weed around people who weren't comfortable. It is something I'm open about though. I won't talk about it if it makes people uncomfortable, but it's not something I'm ashamed of. (Weed isn't a drug to me. I've done real drugs. Weed is no big deal) So I don't treat it like a touchy subject at all, but I wouldn't just bust out a pipe and toke up at furmeet unless everyone was cool with it. I'm a little more aware than that and I've been doing this long enough to know the rules. ^^

Thanks for the well written reply. I've had lots of bad experiences in the past, and even recently, with people who insist on smoking weed, and drinking heavily, and for comparison, I'm 25 and haven't had any alcohol, nor smoked anything, and have no desire to, because I can get by well enough without the stuff. Smoking is an issue of clean fresh air as I'm very sensitive to it, and drinking is becoming a major issue with me due to the behavior of people at cons, people I consider friends, devolving into that which I want nothing to do with. I just don't like how the substances change people, even when they think it doesn't. :<

But yeah, most cons aren't AC, thankfully. XD

Of course. I pride myself in actually being responsible with my substances, unlike a lot of people. Over doing anything is bad for you. I only ever drink in small amounts and never very often. (Alcoholism runs in my family and I refuse to ever be one. I have more will power than that) And yeah, I used to be straight edge and then I smoked for the first time and it made me way more open minded. Plus I learned how many people actually smoke weed. (Teachers, people in the work place, friends I never would have suspected, etc. You don't really know how normal it is and how many people actually do it until you do it yourself.) And I get by just fine without it too. I used to say as a kid I didn't need it to have fun and I still don't, it just makes things more fun and I'm way more open to it now than I was then. Honestly I think everyone should try smoking weed at least once but I'd never pressure them to try it, I just think they should. And really? Cool, good for you.

And yeah, when people drink or smoke or do any kind of drug it puts them in a different world. It's something you would have had to try to understand. it seems strange from the outside, but it's really not that bad. (Unless they're just shit faced and like, being aggressive but that means they have no self control. it's the person, not the substance in a lot of cases)

The hotel is the most expensive per day out of all the ones I know of (even more expensive than Anthrocon's hotels) and the airline flights to Atlanta tend to be on the pricier side (though I still bet you could find a regular priced flight far enough out.)

If you have roommates it doesn't seem like the hotel would be to expensive.
