Alive-n-kickin'... and questions about computers!!

IT LIVES~!
Okay, so I'm hopefully going to be returning to the internet within the next couple weeks. HOPEFULLY. UGH. I had to go out of town for two weeks and I juuust got back. And right before I left, my flippin' car shut off on me while I was going down the damn highway. Kinda scary cuz I have power steering and brakes, and when you don't have power, you barely have EITHER! Now I can't get her running again, we replaced a bunch of stuff, but spark plug no. 4 never fires (according to the diagnostics test and looking at the damn thing). So tomorrow we have to send it off to a mechanic... it's gonna be an expensive trip, I think. D: I do love my car, though. I just have to take my husband's MASSIVE e-350 van to work... it's a beast. I feel like a trucker when I drive it. 8D I even thought of a call name! "Puddle Shuttle"! Just cuz everytime I have to drive somewhere, I have to pee. D:
Art has been okay. I've been workin' on a comic/story while I've been MIA, planning on having it all written out and planned and everything before I really REALLY start on it. I keep changing my character designs! I have a few pages drawn and colored already, but I don't want to upload them just yet. :>
Computerssss... oh my gosh, where do I begin? I'm looking to get a new one, I just haven't been in the market for one in 5 years? I have an Emachine now, everyone says they're junk but I looove mine. It's just getting on in age, slowing down... and I can't upgrade it more than I have. Motherboard can't handle it. The Emachines I was looking at in Best Buy seemed okay, but fuck, I don't want Vista or Windows 7. I don't know if any of my stuff can work on it. Does SAI and OpenCanvas work on a Windows 7 machine? And from what I've heard, Vista is a memory hog... is Windows 7 the same? I don't need a fancy gaming computer, just a standard everyday computer (with loads of RAM and a nice processor!). I just wanted to ask you guys what kind of machines you had, what have you had luck with?
I promise I'll draw more once I get a new computer~ :P

FA+

also Vista works fine for me. I think it was bad on release but it has never failed me (got it a year and a half ago). 7 is gooood but I dunno I never want the latest OS it always has the most problems with everything. :c
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind! *writes notes!*
I've worked on eMachines and they were garbage. I also steer away from Gateway, Compaq, HP, and Dell.
Definitely go with 7 over Vista. With 7 you want the Professional or Ultimate version because they have XP compatibility mode. You'll have less frustration when using software you're used to.
Will look out for you on AIM.
If you still need help with pcs then, I will be glad to talk about the knitty gritty with you, but I don't know much about the companies who put them together.
I have been getting on mostly this week, but the time difference doesn't help! >:|
Miss ya!
Sai and OC work on Windows7. Nuri uses it all the time.
But most likely the cheapest way to go for a new computer is to build one, specially if you know how or a friend who can... but they are stupidly simple now days to put together with everything color coded and labeled. Newegg.com is a great place and I think the cheapest for prices too for parts(plus they'll exchange any bad parts they send out)
I built a computer when I was majoring in computer sciences, and I loved it, but it was years ago and I barely remember how to do it correctly. Maybe I'll do that instead! Hmmmm! I know it'll be cheaper and it'll be exactly what I want... so maybe, mayyybe. *thinks*
Motherboard, correct type of memory, HDD, power supply, expansion cards, cooling systems, optical drives, all the cords...
MAN, i can't wait to buy my own computer and put it together again.
Basically, if you know what you're doing DO IT YOURSELF. :D
I got one of those lil pieces of paper that says I know what I am doing! :D
