musical memories
During my 10th anniversary with my wife we went to see Rock of Ages in Toronto. It's a Canadian cast musical show of the same show that plays in New York. It's biggest draw is that all the music in the show is from the 80's. The glam rock era of the 80's. Now I was born in 1977, so I was only 8 by 1985, but I totally remember rocking out to Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Extreme and so on. Ahh, the memories and totally an awesome show so run out and see it. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.
Also, just the other day I was listening to the radio in the van and Guns n Roses, Paradise City came on. I was like "Oh yeah!" so I turned it up and felt like I was a teenager again. Even my daughter sang along with it. ^_^
I don't listen to new music too much. I mostly listen to things I grew up with. I guess it makes me feel young again. I like to remember the fun times I had while listening to music.
What music brings out the memories in you?

I remember my 4th grade homeroom teacher had a major crush on him.
Marilyn Mansons version of Tainted Love bring me back to my teenage years, whenevver that song played and we where alone, me and my girlfriend would always end up getting horny and having sex, once she commented: "sooo, how do you put the stereo on repeat?", I'm not a huge manson fan, but that is a sexy song.
Metallica brings me back to a christian youth camp I used to lead, one of the senior leader was a metalhead and as we had an evening of shows and activities, he decided to mime a performance. We other leaders where supposed to stay in the background, but I jumped on stage and improvised an air guitar.
I got quite few musical memories from my time as a christian youth leader. To this day, I can't stand Ron Sexsmith. First of all, with a name like that, you do not become a christian songwriter, you become a porno actor. His songs are the worst kind of liberal christian tripe, and its only value is to play and annoy the Babtists...
Another song we used to sing all the time is "Another day in paradise" by PHil Collins, and I hate that fucking godamn piece of sugar-coated bullshit. I don't even get to complain, really. MY major problem is with the pronoun "she", yes, of course you cast a female as the poor victim, that gets more sympathy. Being homeless is apprently only a problem if you are a girl, if you're an old, ugly guy, yo're apprently just suppsoed to deal with it. What's wworse is that I do the EXACT SAME THING casting a female character as a poor victim in my comic, and im as annoyed with myself as i am with the song.
Also, we used to have "imagine" by john lennon in our songbook, but they took it out, apprently someone actually bothered to sit down and read the lyrics...
We played a lot of reagge music, I remember once on camp I had gone to bed early and outside I heard the other people launch into some half-imrpovised reagge on a guitar and trash-can based around the reagge song we played during the sermon, that was pre3tty awesome.
