Long boards and long trips.

Ok now i respect people using long-boards around this campus to get to their class but....really does it need to be that long. i seen a kid today walk into my lecture with a long board as long as his body. walking into any door would seem like a task for this person but now he had to find a place to sit with that bulky piece of wood. now i know they sell way smaller long boards at your local skate shop, so why must you buy a larger board? does it benefit you in some way that i don't know about? i know with different trucks, wheels, boards (size) there are different things that can affect you on a Skateboard. like the size of the boards will affect your flip. the hardness of the wheels will affect some things and so will trucks. Now how does size affect the long-board? it seems too bug to even flip or even Ollie on a long board. so that is where i get lost, there is no reason to buy a huge long-board. unless someone else can help me obtain a bit of knowledge on long-boards i still will have no clue why people buy theses large boards.
talking about something else i am checking prices here to see how much it would be to study abroad but, the place i wanted to get some information on has no stand here. so now i must go research on my area of choice. the lady i was talking too gave me a website, that i will be going to tonight if not tomorrow. the idea of studying abroad would be amazing. new people, new scenery, and a completely different culture and maybe if i listen hard enough i will pick up some of the language. This plan isn't exactly written in stone yet, i still need to check pricing and decide if i am even able to study abroad.
