The Joy Of Owning Dogs...

Well, my big guy, Bowser, swallowed down a rib bone. A smallish one about 3-4 inches long, maybe a little less than half an inch thick. We think he crunched it up first because we heard crunching noises.
Took him to the vet (which cost $100 in itself) for a check up. She said to keep monitoring him and report any abnormal behavior including vomit, runny stool or lack of stool altogether (indicating blockage).
We gave him several pieces of bread to help bind any edges before we took him in and the vet said that was a good move. My neighbor (who drove
and me because we had been doing some celebratory drinking when this happened) told us a comforting story of when her dog ate a rib bone when he was just a puppy and he passed it alright.
I just hope this goes over without any complications. Surgery to remove blockage will be very costly. At least I have a job now!

If I found out that something like that happened to my dogs, i'd faint XD
that's still practically a puppy!
Best of luck
Yeah, I can't remember EVER seeing a dog properly chew their food.

Chicken or turkey bones are a no no because they're hallow and splinter inside once crushed. Beef and pork don't do that.
So I think lil Bowser will be fine, especially if he was crunching it down first.
But either way he seems fine now.
My boyfriend has a dog, though, and I can't even imagine how many of those things he's probably eaten, and he's 15 now... so there's a good, good chance he'll be fine, hehe.
