To be an athlete....

So I never post a journal on FA, but tonight it just seemed appropriate on a more personal note.
For those who know me well, you know that im slightly (ahem >__>) obsessed with jocks and athletes. It's something i really aspire to. I used to be very much into swimming in my younger days, but post college, I wasn't really involved in athletics at all...
This has been troubling me lately, as I try to figure out the answer to my question "What will make me a jock" or less juvenile sounding, "what makes an athlete." There are alot of answers to this, and most of them valid, but I had a realization today that I felt the need to share (for some reason).
The special talent that an athlete has is to step back and stop the conscious mind from interfering. As far as I know, in all sports, the moments where one succeeds are those then s/he ceases to THINK, and simply DOES. Letting all the practice and discipline of the past have effect, and simply let things happen automatically. If you have ever experienced phenomenon personally, then you know what truely amazing beautiful thing it is.
Thanks for reading.
Leo.

To be a jock, though, means you play sports. I guess it also indicates an air of hyper-masculinity, of machismo. Also, it means you wear the appropriately named underwear to match. XD
Anyways I agree with you. And I think Athlete doesn't just mean sports but can expand into many different modes of movement, but all of them share this one similar thread, that we stop thinking about what we are going to do, and instead we just do it.
not to mention being competitive and gettin all hot and sweaty and rawr n stuff too!
