Inspirations for your fursona?

Pretty much what it says in the title. If anything, what are your influences in your fursona's design, origin, etc?
For the Bone-dog's current, undead form, I'd place her inspiration largely in two things (not counting the dream that initially inspired me to draw her as a skeleton, which I summed up in the picture "Dogmeat Danced Through Hell.")
Depression-era black and white cartoons play a large part, especially Fleischer cartoons, wherein skeletons and surreal creatures and imagery were presented with utter glee in their own morbidity, sometimes even downright sadistic. Notable examples of her inspiration are the hilariously cruel and insane "Swing, You Sinners" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8b8isnhYMjg ) and the cartoon musical performances by Cab Calloway of "St. James' Infirmary" and "Minnie the Moocher." (I'd recommend checking those out too!)
Secondly, I also take some inspiration in the Mexican Dia De Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, and the cartoonish skeletal imagery, masks and costume the day entails. I enjoy and admire the contrast of the subject of death with the celebration of those passed the holiday, dancing and festivals entail. If you see her with some Mexican or Spanish inspired clothing (as I've drawn her before,) that's what made me think of it. Besides, it's cute on her, no?
So, what about you?

Skin is a bit more fun. I love shape shifting, and the thought of being anything you want. T-1000, FluidMan, even the Wonder Twins had their moments of cool. Put them all together with the awesomeness of Howard the Duck and there you have the rough idea of what I wanna do with Skin.
Forneus, like every character name I ever make, was inspired by the Ars Goetia and its description of Satan's English teacher, a fish who also had the power to make friends out of enemies.
I absolutely cannot sound more like a nerd than in this comment.
I basically worked backwards from "TastesLikeGreen", which I pulled out of the air when I signed up here. First it was the MSPainted mouth-with-green-tongue icon (which a certain thoughtful someone took and made much, much prettier), and then it was a character who reflected that idea: Vinnie Linus, who can reshape every part of his body any way he (or even she, on the rare occasions such a mood arises) sees fit, with the exception that his tongue is always a bright, healthy green.
