Un-Watching and the Divine Candy of Life
I’ve been posting here for a couple of years and I watch quite a few artists and fave stuff all the time. One thing I have never done (knowingly, anyway) is un-watch someone. I guess I kinda figured it was rude and I don’t like to be rude. But I recently had to un-watch an artist because the content of his gallery really bothered me. I guess it would have been prudent and polite if I had simply looked at the entire gallery first and then made the decision not to watch. But I didn’t.
Anyway, I wonder how many people on here regularly watch and un-watch people? I don’t remember ever being notified that someone un-watched me. Is that something you get a notification about? Just curious.
Now back to my regularly scheduled morning drawing session. There are un-inked naked elves to be dealt with.
P.S. There is nothing in this post about candy or divinity.

And yeah, people sometimes un-watch me too, mostly they dont give a cause, but I had one guy that said that the stuff I draw scares him (lolwat) and another that keeps watching - un-watching me (4 times already lol), and he said that doesent want to watch anthro oprn, but keeps getting back to it. Just like an addiction :D
Don't sweat un-watching people. There's at least 5,000 lurkers who will watch in your place, and you can always stumble across and re-watch them later on.
It's kinda harsh, but I realize that they not being particularly productive is even harsher to me.
There's really nothing you can do about useless watchers other than showing your displeasure at them by removing them from your buddy list. xD
People who post a dozen unfinished sketches of the same basic drawing. They hog the new submissions page and I'm already watching more than 300 people. I think it's disrespectful to other members. One thing is to post a "work in progress" to ask for feedback and another to keep posting some incomplete crap over and over.
People who use the account to post one furry-unrelated rant after another, but post no art or anything interesting.
People who repeatedly ignore my comments and messages for some reason. There were a couple of artist here whose art I really liked, but for some reason never answered my comments. After confirming they answered and commented back every single post except mine on several submissions I came to the conclusion they were ignoring me, so I guess the appropriate course of action is to ignore back.
It's not rude to unwatch someone though. I wouldn't worry about doing so as it's an anonymous thing to do, they'll never know who did it unless they keep track of each and every follower, which most don't unless their ego is the size of a 747. Really, millions of reasons to unwatch someone, yours is definitely quite valid. ♥
Well, one less source of inbox spam.
Of course, before I watch them, they have to be a somewhat cool person in the first place. I don't think I'd wanna hang around hot heads and over-the-top pompous windbags.
I kind of understand the reason someone might be miffed at being unwatched. The internet is so impersonal it would be easy to imagine all kinds of stuff like "He hates me" or some such nonsense. But the practical truth of it is our tastes drift over time, peoples' work drifts over time, and sometimes we might even accidentally click a button. I see a lot of "favorite removed by the user" notifications. It would be highly insane of me to assume that means the person suddenly decided I was shit. Instead, it was probably an accidental click or they clicked on the wrong image or something.
Oh well. For what its worth, if I unwatch you it was probably because the bulk of your subject matter isn't what I'm into right now. In fact the few I've unwatched are fine artists, I just wasn't enjoying the subject matter. Nothing personal.
Rock on.
