My grandpa died today. Just an hour or so after I visited him, so I guess I can be lucky to have had the chance to say my goodbyes. Even though I promised to visit him soon again. It came as a bit of a surprise, because he was doing slightly better (he recognized me at least).
It's the first real death I've ever experienced, but I knew it was coming so at least I was mentally prepared. As far as that is possible.
The most surreal part of it all though, was when I visited my grandma later this evening (about 6 hours later) with my parents. And all the children of my grandpa were discussing what to do with the funeral. I know what funerals are like, but it's so weird to see how one is planned... from the location to the coffin to the invitation cards.
Still not sure how to feel... at least I know he led a wonderful and rich life, and I can only aspire to lead a life like he did.

He'll be missed.
