Drinking water upside-down
Mouthful of sugar then chugging water
Trying to force hiccups
Hyperventilating
Slow, deep breathing
Not breathing
Being startled/frightened suddenly

and uppening up your esophagus for the timespan of over 3 hiccups.
BTW if you try holding your breath for 30 seconds. it should work. If you hiccup and mess it up by breathing u have to start over though. It always works for me.
"Irritation of any of the nerves involved in [the diaphragm to the phrenic nerve and the vagus nerve] can cause the diaphragm to undergo involuntary contraction, or spasm, pulling air into the lungs. When this occurs, it triggers a reflex in the throat muscles. Less than a tenth of a second afterward, the trachea is closed off, making the characteristic "hic" sound." -Richard Robinson
It's not a pocket of air, it's a spasm in the diaphragm. A pocket of air might of started the hiccups, but it's not what causes hiccups. The more you know. Also:
>>"Not breathing", "drinking water"
Might of = Might've = Might have
The more you know.
