Also, a question that's been percolating in my mind. Nothing has spurned me to ask, but it's just something I've wondered.
Under what circumstances do you - or would you - unwatch someone?
See, I don't utilize the watch feature to start with (please don't take it personally, anyone, I just actually comment/check up on people I care about and getting system updates drives me crazy), so it's just a question of curiosity. Do you do it if that person expresses an unfavorable/unsavory opinion? Art of a subject matter you don't like? How extreme does it have to be? Or is it not-a-big-deal to you, and you just periodically "trim" your watchlist?
I'm curious c:.
This is also asked partially because I - again - have realized that a lot of my artistic frustration is due to the fact I struggle against how I want to draw for most commissions or adult pieces. My natural inclination is very toony, chibi, and silly, with pretty nonmorphic anatomy. Like this or this. Chubby or lanky cute things. But, I dunno, when I get commissioned to draw adult things, it just feels kinda... dirty or "cub" to put genitals on those type of drawings :T. I admit, I'm not categorically opposed to it at all, I'm just afraid of losing watchers or being branded a cub artist or w/e for it. Haters gonna hate, I'm sure, I just have an admittedly fragile ego, but it's REALLY hard for me to try and make my art more anthro and less cute for the sake of it. It just kinda feels weird to make "porn" and "cute" mutually inclusive xD;
So yah o:! Thoughts? Just thinkin' out loud thanks for readin'.

I also unwatch for bad attitudes... this one guy I was watching is SO paranoid and confrontational... say anything that isn't what he wants to hear and he goes apeshit and pulls a "delete fucking everything" fit, while the person who made the comment just watches in confusion the resulting whirlwind. I also unwatch if they are one of those artists that has a catastrophe of the week and constantly begs for donations, or if they use their journal as a pulpit for spreading rude and hurtful comments.
I also unwatch suit makers when their gallery is flooded with mediocre drawn art and they stop making suits, and crosspost their best stuff to LJ fursuit anyway.
1. They post too many useless journals bout meme/how boring/amazing/funny their life/friend/mate is.
2. Watch someone from one picture then realize they aren't that great so unwatch them.
3. They hardly update ever, saying half a year without new stuff.
4. They cause nothing but drama even though they are an amazing artist
5. The person is your ex mate or ex mates friend and you only watched that person because they were your ex or ex's friend.
6. Accidentally watched someone you didn't mean to
And other things I might not have forgotten
For me, I only unwatch people when they post to much spam. Drama, link backs, doodles or "Help out my friend who needs money" type posts.
Just post the finished pieces please... I'm interested in the end product, not the process. Posting an inked sketch is all right, if it can stand alone as a work of art in its own right. Using FA as an place to advertise some other website one has, especially a paysite, by posting censored art here, is also likely to upset me enough to make me unwatch.
As for journals, I will skip over a lot of obvious spam (commission queue status reports, etc.).
I generally wouldn't unwatch someone for the opinions they hold.
I usually don't unwatch because of art reasons, although if an artist thumbnails every piece they do (adult and not) I unwatch them because...what's the point? I'm not going to see every piece they do just because they only show me an elbow in the submissions list. On the other hand, I also unwatch if people do NOT thumbnail stuff that is super fetishy, like cub art. I guess I'm picky, or maybe I just don't want to see douchebags drawing baby cock on my watchlist. D8 I dunno.
