Crash
On my way home from work just now, I was in a head-on collision. Aside from some bruises, a welt, and possible glass, I'm not majorly injured. My car is, though. Geico's not picking up tonight, so I don't know the full extent of what's going to happen.
Best case scenario: My insurance covers everything, and provides me with a rental car until the damages are repaired. All I have to pay for is the citation of the accident, and I can continue working until my car is fixed. The repairs are completed soon, and life goes on as planned (minus the citation fee).
Worst case scenario: My car can't be fixed, and I have to pay for the citation, the towing, the disposal, and the damages to the other guy's car. I become car-less, and have to ride the bus to work. Or quit. MFF is out of the question.
Likely scenario: My car can be fixed, but the insurance doesn't cover enough of it to be very affordable. I have to pay for the citation and the repairs, as well as bus rides until my car is fixed. This will probably require a loan from my mom in order to cover the repairs. The repairs might not be finished very soon, and I probably won't be able to go to MFF.
I'll update this with the actual scenario tomorrow, once I know it.
UPDATE 10-23-10: I called Geico. They said that I'll have a deductible to pay, but that if my car is reparable, they'll pay for repairs. They'll also pay for the towing and the damages to the other guy's car. They'll also pay for a rental, up to a certain point. If the car is NOT reparable, (which is probably going to be the case, because of the airbags,) then they'll reimburse me for an assessed worth of the losses of the car.
I can't get the rental until monday, though.
So now here's how I imagine this going- I'll have a rental car for awhile, the guy will tell me my car is totaled. They'll give me some money, hopefully enough to buy another car. Probably used. I'll have to pay for the ticket, and the deductible. This will probably put me out about 300 dollars, which is probably going to leave me too broke to go to MFF.

giving many prayers and many hopes towards luck!!! mrew
1. They will pay for all damages, up to whatever the max payouts of the policy is.
2. They will pay for nothing.
Isn't much of a middle ground.
This is why you have full coverage and not just liability. With Liability only they cover the other guy and tell you we are sorry.
I know this because I have been in the same position before.
Aslo are you considered 100% at fault? if so I'd talk to your insurance company maybe take pictures of the intersection at night to illustrate the confusion.
Floppy I am very happy to hear you are ok. Although I am sad you won't be able to join me to MFF. Take care and take some anti-interrogatories and ice your neck and back because a lot of time the aches and pains don't start until 24-48 hours later. Take things easy the next few days ie don't do any heavy lifting. (this is my professional opinion)
If you need any advice or help drop me a note :)
Sent you a PM on some MFF options to help you with that as well.
Insurance and all the paraphernalia can be a bitch to work through—I feel your pain! :CC
might be able to give you a ride to mff, i still need to check my schedule at work, n if i can get another day off.
