I've survived one winter in Massachussetts.. One to go, lol.

MA winters aren't bad. It hardly gets to -20 ever, and even -10 is semi-rare. Why, last winter was so mild, I don't even know that it ever hit 0. It may just have fuffed about in the teens and tweens. Positively balmy!

Maybe we'll get some appreciable snow this time around.

Week-long downpour? Try TWO MONTH LONG. About four years ago we didn't see the sun for the entire second half of winter. It was nearly impossible to go outside even if you wanted to, because the rain froze and stuck to you and the streets were a disaster.

Bah! T'aint nuthin'! In these parts we get hurricane force blizzards and we gotta fill the bathtubs with water so we have water to flush the toilets with when the power goes out! ...because I have my own well... that runs on electricity... Hard to take a shower when the power goes out...

I have oil lamps on most of my walls....

Haha, I know what it's like though! I used to live in a place where one gets hit by 5 tropical storms and at least one Cat 5 every year, and it was quite a sight to see.

Also, I've seen 60 inches of downpour in 2 days once xD

I prefer my precipitation frozen. My driveway is long overdue for another load of gravel and it's already got mud puddles in all the wrong places. Some of the dirt roads surrounding the house are in pretty bad shape, though the parts I travel are in excellent condition thanks to the one neighbor who regularly works on the parts important to him (and me).

The problem with the high velocity snow is it builds up along one back fence when the direction is just right and a snow drift builds up high enough to allow my dog to just walk over the five foot fence if he so chose. Otherwise the snow doesn't inconvenience me much and even allows me to make a little extra money clearing my neighbor's driveways.

It's about freakin' time it rained up here. I was jealous that SoCal was getting it and we weren't. The rain and the green are half the reasons I moved up here.
