how often do you clean the cage? I personally can't stand mice just for the ammonia type of smell that comes after the first day or so of keeping them in the cage... and personally it'd be quite annoying and a waist of money to clean the cage and replace the bedding every day... I used to keep mice for feeding snakes... I don't know how you can keep one as a pet.

Usually I clean it about once a week to be honest and I don't think the smell ever gets that bad. I also tend to actually wash the cage itself with hot water and soap. I'm still using the same basic bag of bedding I bought when I bought my mouse maybe 6 months ago [cleaning the cage in this interval has made it last pretty damn long]. On top of that, the lid for my cage [the one in the video is Pros's cage] is plastic with holes in it, so I don't think that lets much of the smell out. I also give my mouse herself a bath sometimes, usually when I clean the cage or if she pees on me and runs through it [because then she's just a stinky brat].
