The Walking Dead

Last Sunday was the premiere of The Walking Dead on AMC. It got me thinking, if the dead did rise, what would you want to use to survive against the rising hordes of the dead? One place that I found that got me thinking was https://www.zombietools.net and another was https://www.zombiehunters.org Thought I'd make a list with links or descriptions.
Weapons:
1. 18" or 36" long crowbar
2. 23" machete or possibly this machete: http://www.knifecave.com/fantasy/st.....ty/MA1475.html
3. A standard knife to use for everyday tasks. I'd take this one: http://www.knifecave.com/fantasy/st...../DBJM005B.html
4. Quite possibly a lever action rifle or pump action shotgun. Unfortunately I'm not very knowledgeable with guns, nor do I currently own any (my father does) so I can't be more specific. Granted, a gun doesn't go high on my list of items I'd take with me because of the major factor that guns require ammo and depending on how long the zombies are around, I'd probably run out of ammo too quickly.
I have considered these two items from Cold Steel: http://www.coldsteel.com/grossemesser.html and http://www.coldsteel.com/1917cutlass2.html but the second is as large as the larger machete which was the first item link I listed.
I do own these two items from Cold Steel: http://www.coldsteel.com/africanwalking.html and http://www.coldsteel.com/warhammer.html but am unsure about using them during such a zombie apocalypse.
As stated with the guns before, I'd probably avoid a pistol, primarily for the fact that when ammo runs out it's useless. Not to mention I'd need to learn to aim the thing. Also, the Walking Dead brings up a good point with guns and a huge downside for them. The sound of the gun being fired will attract more zombies. A melee weapon dispatches the single zombie without alerting others. And since they shamble, it'd be easy to take one out and run away before more arrive. The thing to avoid would be places like cities, where the zombies become deadly hordes and can surround and trap their victims. That's the major advantage the living dead have, NUMBERS!
Well, what about everyone else?

Gotta admit, Cold Steel has some amazing stuff.
To be honest, those are the main concerns I'd have about using any sword as my primary weapon. I wouldn't want it breaking on me, especially when I needed it most. Swords breaking on the soldiers wielding them right as they needed them in combat was what brought about the British Proof Test in the first place.
Also while in theory a big old fucking crowbar sounds good unless you practice with it or a heavier object for more than a few hours continuous a day you will not have the stamina to wield your efficient weapon. those things may not seem like they weigh a lot but i bet you would tire inside fifteen minutes of continuous head bashing and fighting.
For real head bashing i would probably have one of my boken anyway. swords may or may not strike true to ensure decapitation but a boken will deliver the needed brain death. if i can use one to send a coconut to hell in pieces it will take out a skull since a coconut is harder.
You are thinking i have only just swords. i have pole arms, axes, swords, bludgeoning weapons, distance weapons. knives, and assorted exotics. I may not have a gun yet but that is only a matter of time as hopefully Little Dobe will someday take me up on my request to help me remove that fear. and then i can add that to my collection of do not fuck with me.
Heh, it's probably best even then to not be in combat with Zeds for more than 15 minutes. Better to just get outta there (like sonic the hedgehog), than fight an extended battle with crowds of Zeds.
I do figure my African Walking Stick would be better off for using as a cane length melee weapon, as my war hammer had been seen to have to be pulled out by the head after they smashed a hole in the animal skulls they used in their demos. I forsee the crowbar I have as used more often as a utility item and only as a two handed melee weapon in quick emergencies.
But I do plan on getting a roughly 30" machete, https://www.knifecave.com and their sister site https://www.smkw.com sell a military issue machete of that length for about $25.
For melee, Im going to have a basic crowbar and a 16" machete.
As for the speciels, I have a folded steel Tanto in a pinch, 1940's commando knife, good pocketwatch to keep time accuratly without batteries, geiger counter, portable version just in case, Japanese calvery sword, British Sword-byonet, hand crosbow for quieter usage with sharpened bolts froms sticks, enough pockets to carry what I need as well as the rucksack, functional gas mask, crowbar (more acces then weapon tho XD), Glacier Sunglasses for lighter areas as well as spatter concerns (lether sides) with the ability to put my lab goggles over them just in case, small blowtorch-lighter which is good enough to melt some metals, mobile phone with two spare batteries and solar charger and bluetooth 'phones, and just in case things get ugly, I have my 1890's Nepolese Kukuri to take care of everything.
It's getting rather venrable these days, mostly due to the maximum-duty string used to hold it together failing. I guess it should've been wire instead.
working on the initial stages of the LGC Mk. II atm. Less armour, more controls.
The Mk. III will have both in more advanced forms, and will probably be made in up to ten years time.
