Awww, that sucks! Maybe you gave such good advice that they handled their issue and deleted the journal to keep others from answering. That's the good way to think about it! :D

I've never understood the need to comment "Hey, thanks for watching!" I'm just a guy and this is just a journal. No big deal. And I've noticed lots of folks put up temporary stuff and then delete them as well. Journals, art, scraps. I think that the deletion bit is being abused, tell you the truth.

I can see not feeling the need to reply to a simple "sorry", but I must be expecting too much to get a "thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge" out of some in this group.

If it was an add to sell something and it was over, I can understand, but I don't understand the constant deleting otherwise.
I figure if it's not important enough to leave up, then don't post it.

I came across more than a few profiles when going to add a "thanks for the watch" that said "umg dun thank me 4 watch! ):<" in huge, angry letters when I first started using this site, so after a while I pretty much quit doing it. I do have to agree a bit, it can get kind of spam-ish and the copypasta nature causes it to lose meaning if all the shouts on a page simply say "thanks for the watch" without having added anything else to let the person know that the commenter actually took a look at their profile/gallery instead of just ctrl+v'ing on every profile that pops up in their watchers list. It personally doesn't bother me whether or not someone simply thanks me for watching them or says nothing at all, but that "don't spam my page with watch thanks (which isn't a bad thing, everyone has a right to attempt to keep their profile looking a certain way)" vibe just tends to deter me from saying anything unless I have something more personal to add:B.

The journal deletion without even a "thanks" is odd, though. Of course, not to generalise, but it seems that the majority of the fandom is either really talkative, somewhere in between, or really antisocial.

I guess it bothers me because I'm trying really hard to be more social and meet more people. Stuff like this discourages me.

Yeah, I can understand that:<. I have social anxiety, which makes me feel like I'll irritate or get in the way of people if I try to talk to them, ask them something or just simply am in their presence. I choose to dress and pretty much act like a guy, so while in high school (we live in a very judgmental/gossipy soccer mom area) I got a lot of crap from my peers and family members, and ended up brainwashing myself to think that I was worth less than everyone else. I've since met my boyfriend of 3+ years who mentally drilled it into me that I shouldn't give a crap what others think so long as I'm happy, but I still have severe anxiety around his family and anyone else who I want to think well of me, and I still get the feeling like I've done something wrong if I build up the courage to strike up a conversation with someone (both online and off) and they ignore me or otherwise act irritated.</end cool story bro time> Online however, there's the disconnection of not being able to see people face-to-face, so I think everyone forgets at least once in a while that a comment on their profile or journal was written by an actual person somewhere in the world who is interested in conversing with them. The digital age we're in now has become way too impersonal D:.

I do the same thing, I'm always over thinking my words because I'm afraid of someone mistaking what I'm trying to say. I'm always second guessing myself too, especially when someone who I thought was friendly suddenly stops talking.

That is so true! I was just thinking the other day how we're so much more connected to other people and the world these days, yet no one really talks anymore.

I honestly hate when my shouts are a bunch of watch thanks, for it makes my shout list feel less personal and more advertisey ..so I never do it to others. Don't take it to heart, for many feel the same way I do. But uh, thanks for watching then =p

It's nice, but I don't care so much about the thanks for the watch/fav's either. I've always been more of a lurker and am trying to change, I want to meet more people and hopefully, make some new friends.
I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but stuff like this makes me feel like I failed.
