Scratch That...

Forget what I said in my last journal. It seems that my partner feels that it is simply "to embarrassing to be seen in public with you wearing that thing". So, back it (and I) shall go into the closet. Yippee.

Ok; I've gotten to know ya a little through Wrongside; so I hope I'm not gonna step on any toes here; but I find your partner's comment to be extremely insensitive. You should have every right to show your pride any way you see fit; and a Tail is nothing to be ashamed of. The way the comment was said makes it a very direct snub; almost like "Oh ye Gawds; I am embarrassed to be around an open and honest Furry". Seriously; it's just ... I could rant and rant and rant here; but I will refrain.
I just think you should have the right to express yourself. Not to sound insulting or mean; but it's my firm belief that your partner should seriously chill out; restraining someone's Human Right of expression to save personal face just seems so very self-centered. It's just like saying "Oh Gawd! You like the (Insert Football Team Here); But I'm a (Rival Team's name) Fan; So I'm embarrassed to be seen around you wearing their colors/jersey."
Unless I was wearing one too.
And we could get all our Furry friends to wear one.
Then I wouldn't be so embarrassed.
I know too many people who get pushy about what they believe in, to the point of alienating others who might be good to know even if they don't share all the same beliefs.
Maybe that's too tolerant? I don't know.
Also, to take up your comparison to religion (only for comparison purposes - I don't consider the two things to be equal), I'd compare it more to a Jewish person wearing their kippah hat, or a Hindu their tilaka dot. It's simply an accessory that indicates my preferences. Your comparison to waving texts in people's faces would be closer to, say...if I began meowing and rubbing up against people.
What's funny is that I prefer a tail over wearing ears or an earhat, because it's much easier to ignore - if you're talking to someone, something on their head is *right there*, but a tail is completely out of view. If anything, I thought I was providing a decent compromise. Perhaps I should simply invest in some simple furry-art tshirts, since folks seem to not mind them as much.

Time to throw personal bias out the window, since my own "mate" has the same view that you do.
Not that I'm going to go full on fursuit (or scalesuit as the case may be) every day for the rest of my life... but maybe I should be more accepting of those that do.
Hug?
=^^=
Yeah - I approached her with my wanting to wear it and she said she was fine with it. I'm guessing that she either figured I was only joking, or she overestimated her tolerances, because when I actually put it on and started to walk outside to go shopping, she said the comment I quoted.
I'm not one who likes to make others uncomfortable, so I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up if she hadn't said it was okay before...I suppose I'm just feeling disappointed more than anything.

On a brighter note; however... There is a kind of Furry symbol out there; to unify all furs and discreetly show off our support of the Fandom... It's even one I'D Readily wear ^^
What symbol might this be?

Not like its gonna be every damn day. :P
I suppose this is to be expected when furs hunt outside of the fandom XD
So how about that Kiriban you won off me? Still haven't gotten a full image idea from you. :P

I totally forgot! Is it bad that now, when I think of it, I see Aeris in dominatrix gear?
