Nearly end of studies... and some other stuff

I handed in my project report today, the last bit of work for my honours, save for the presentation later in the month. That means I'm pretty much free... and have no idea what to do next year. I need a job but there's almost nothing in science, particularly for a new graduate and even more so in my area. :/ The thing I have been thinking about is trying to get a newspaper or magazine column. I could write for money but I'm not sure what it'd even be about. so here's today's question, what do you guys think I should do next year?
I had a bunch of things to tell you guys too, and pics, which I don't have on my pc. I could've shown you a hive of bees in a tree I walk past (They've been removed. Boring,), a flat bird I saw on a walk (So flat...) and then an Egyptian goose and its babies (I couldn't actually show that because I didn't take a picture). I think there were other things I wanted to say but I've forgotten what they were.
And, lastly, I found an article about what Americans know about SA.

I found it amusing, and I've seen some American ignorance myself. Still I have an explanation as to why things are like that. Maybe I'm wrong but I think it has to do with cultural exports. I know a lot of everything (I'm so modest^^) because I grew up reading British books and watching mostly American TV shows and movies (though now I've been looking for British ones) and then read manga and watched anime so I've got cultural input from everywhere. America makes so much stuff that they never get much of it from anywhere else so there's no way for them (you?) to learn about other cultures. I doubt there are any South African TV shows on in America, or many other forms of culture.

I'm not sure about Everywhere in the United States, but along the east coast (a generally more urbanized and developed area) there are a lot of channel programs, and there are at least one for each of Britain, India, and Latin America. I don't think there is any for South African, though. This goes both ways though - would you say you are more or less ignorant than most of the people in South Africa? :) You getting cultural input from everywhere probably makes your less ignorant (in general) than most people in Most countries. :)

Waaay more, but that's beside the point. South Africa is a rather confused country and certainly not well-educated (although the standards of education are high o.0) and spent a lot of time isolated. America is a major world power and certainly has the money and infrastructure to support such things. And I forgot to add all the SA cultural input^^

Right, but I am absolutely sure that in my country, your country, and everyone else's, there are people who educate themselves, and people who prefer to remain ignorant. ;) Wether the money and infrastructure is there or not, if someone wants to be ignorant, they probably will be. ;)

Well it wasn't so much trying to educate myself as just having the variety of materials showed me various viewpoints. It's strange because I know a bunch of American terms and even use some on-line (e.g. diapers) which I would never use irl (they're called nappies here) while others don't even know there are different words for things (like boot being used instead of trunk in Britain and SA).
