I really need to get better
Ok so I've been staring at my art for a long while now and looking at some of my favorite artist's stuff on FA and DA, and I have discovered that I really really need some help (with my art that is). I've basically been self taught all this time, and I'm starting to think that maybe it would be better if I was actually taught by someone who knows what they are doing.
I've considered taking art at school, but that teacher is a psycho with no taste, and i doubt she can teach me anything that will help me with my preferred type of art, as she considers anything that's not realistic as not art. Not to mention she doesn't teach digital art, and that's what I need the most help with. I can't take any college art courses because I don't really know if the colleges close to me have dual enrollment art classes, and frankly I don't think my school would let me with the schedule they gave me.
I'm not really depreciating my art. I just know that i can only improve so much without any kind of training, and right now I don't see much improvement. Plus I don't want to be accused of stealing or something because I use poses or techniques from artists I admire to teach myself.
So yeah, I guess that means I need to find a teacher or a class or something.

Hey. Check out these artists -
Do you have any anatomy books? Do you use photo references, or reference your own body? Trust me, Christopher Hart is the LAST person you want to go to for info, but I highly suggest getting his Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy. One of the few good books from him.
I've been thinking of taking classes too, but I'm a weirdo and pride myself too much on my self-taught status.
But hey, I don't know the teacher at school very well at all, but realism isn't bad. Having a good hold on realism HELPS, it is never knowledge that disadvantages an artist.
I watch all three of them actually. I just haven't gotten the courage to talk to them ^^'
Yeah I have a couple anatomy books, but they're not really all that great
Remember the guy said you only have two weeks to change your mind about classes, but I doubt you'll need the whole two weeks to figure it out. If you do take the class, though, I'll take it with you.
The thing about anatomy books is that they serve best as a complement to simple observation. The things I've learned from anatomy books have only truely sunk in once I've actually seen those parts in action.
I know about the two weeks thing. I'm considering taking the class just because it's..art. Art is easy.
Yeah same here with anatomy
i never said it wasn't easy, because it is. Miller's the only problem
