How is this fair, MFF?

I'm starting to feel like
bucktowntiger did when he wrote Footsteps.
"Unfortunately, it is our policy in the Alley that we focus on visual arts first and crafters second. The reason for this is the amount of space most crafters tend to take up and that we have had problems in the past with them sliding into their table partners' space.
That being said, we do try to fit everyone in who requests a table and have yet to not manage it. However, crafters will be moved back behind visual artists and receive second priority. Does this mean you won't get a seat? No, it does not. We will make every attempt to get you in, but it should not be expected that you'll be seated first thing in the morning."
-Dr. Kesten, Artist Alley Co-Director
I never take up more than my fair share. This seems like quite a bit of crap. Like what, does the sign-up sheet for the alley ask "What do you sell"? How else will they know who to discriminate against?
This is me trying to diplomatically share my thoughts with Dr. Kesten.
"I'm not entirely sure I understand this policy. Why not punish artists who go over their table borders, instead of preemptively doing so to artists like myself, who have always adhered to their allotted limits? I was even taking measures this year to conserve space by making the same sort of sample binder that many "visual artists" also bring with them. (As opposed to bringing a larger library of pipeys, see.) It seems to me like a stereotype, if not a form of bigotry, that one type of artist should be given priority over another, if both are indeed allowed in the Alley."

Oh hi mark.
I doubt they're doing it to really discriminate, just trying to make sure nobody has to deal with a table mate that keeps oozing into their area, even if on accident.
