USA set to Censor the internet.

General
In the United States, a new law proposal called The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced, and there will be a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee November 18, 2010.
If passed, this law will allow the government, under the command of the media companies, to censor the internet as they see fit, like China and Iran do, with the difference that the sites they decide to censor will be completely removed from the internet and not just in the US.
Please see the following article from the Huffington Post for more information.

And if you are a US citizen, please take the time to sign this petition http://demandprogress.org/blacklist/
Remember to contact your representatives to let them know your opinion on the proposed bill. To find out who are the senators on your state and their contact information, you can visit the Senate website.

FA+

Laws like these start off with one intention, then break out into a myriad of avenues which eventually leads to a generic ban on ANYTHING the governing body in charge of this new law takes a disliking to.
Oh Hello Warner Brothers. Whats this? This FA Site has copyrighted images? Bugs Bunny porn? Sure we'll blacklist and ban the site.
It sounds far fetched, but this bill will allow that very action to be taken. ISPs will deny access to FA until every copyrighted image has been removed (since a clause exists that can allow sites back onto the grid once offending material has been removed.)
It already has powerful backing which makes the threat of this bill passing very real indeed.
Will find out Thursday what happens.
Somebody needs to be hung by their nose because I'm headed to Canada,,
If Obama lets this pass, shame on him.
I mean we have no life as it is but if you censor the good stuff not associated with stuff they need to censor..
I've got a problem with it.
I would have lost all faith in people if this passes.
