Greetings,
It has been a while so I thought I would let everyone know what has been going on in life. Not that anyone was wondering. Anyway, this summer I visited my family, turned 30, bought an old Jeep and started fixing it up, nearly finished my pilot training, but a close family member passed away and spent the next couple weeks helping to put their affairs in order. I did manage to pass my pilot written test, and am painfully close to finishing flight training, but that will have to wait until next year.
I managed to get my Jeep put back together, took two fail test drives, made a few last minute repairs and adjustments, and left the next day on a 10 day, over 4000 mile, solo road trip back home. After driving dawn to dusk and camping each night, I arrived in time to catch the once a month 4 day boat ride home.
Finally home I almost stayed for a week before flying out on a month long business trip. I did a couple of trail runs and even got fairly lost on one when the trail slowly faded into a forest marsh and I kept going for another hour as snow began to fall. I made it home and stayed nearly a week before I was asked if i could deploy on a fishing boat. An hour later I was packed and headed out on the Bering Sea. The trip took twice as long as expected and once in town and glad to done, I was asked if I could go back out for another quick trip. After the even longer second trip, and a month at sea I am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed for a while.
I apologize for the lack of updates lately. There will be more soon if anyone cares.
Regards,
Stormpaw

Anyway, I would be glad to have someone to talk to. I do not know many people.
Restoring a car is a great project. I would spend a lot of time considering what I wanted and what I wanted to do with it though before spending any money. I spent about 6 months researching Jeeps and various power trains options, model years, modification and upgrades before I finally figured out what I wanted and found it. I learned a lot. It is a good thing to or I would never have made it back to Alaska. That part was part of the fun. =3
