Yup, I went to Midwest Furfest. Was one of the most AMAZING nights of my life. I dare even say it stood up to my Senior Prom, and that night was pretty good. So this was pretty freaking good.
Started off that Mandy drove us there. We had to go through three toll booths, and each time I dropped the change while I fumbled for the money. But we paid it and was on our way. Only real trouble of the night was that Mandy has terrible anxiety in big cities. She got us there, but it was up to me to actually park.
We stopped at the actual hotel where MFF was held, but I thought it was being held at the building behind us labeled "convention center". So no Mandy, you can't blame me for getting us lost for about 20 minutes. xD
We ended up parking a block away cuz we weren't driving around in Chicago where we had no clue where we were. It put a time limit on how late we could stay, cuz we needed to get to the car before 9 or it would be towed, but seeing as we had to leave by ten anyway so we could get back home for bed, it all worked out.
Once we were in I could have hurt someone, there was a sign that said "registration closed". At least Mandy was sane and read the fine print stating "temporary badges for Saturday night only". I jumped for joy. x3
So, after we got our badges, we explored. First off was the Artist's Corner (or something along those lines). I saw so many good artists, I was overtaken by awe. There was so much to see, so many styles, so many people and colors... It was truly inspiring. I found a lot of people that were cheap enough for me to commission with the little money I had. The only problem was that a lot of them said they would be busy and wouldn't get anything done til the next morning. But I lucked out and found someone to get an inked, full body bust of Stripes for only eight dollars.
you helped make my night with that. x3
Next was the artist room next to the one we saw. I saw just as much there, including woodwork's and masks, as well as prints. I even met my twin's brother! I was so excited. x3
After that I went and saw these skits that were being held. I walked in on some sort of furry conga line which I found highly amusing, followed by a harmonica playing (I think it was a coon, I couldn't see the tail) then a skit about a fox that worked at a pron shop, but had no porn. Poor guy. xP
All the while I saw so many different fursuits. Some were full body, others were full body with clothes over it, and more were just the head and paws. It was definitely entertaining and inspiring. I totally want a Stripes fursuit now. ^_^
After I got tired of walking for a bit, I took an empty seat with the other artists and started drawing. I wasn't gonna accept commissions or anythign, i wasn't registered to do so. But I still had people stop and watch me draw, and they seemed truly interested in my work, as if they were gonna pay for it. I was so happy. *wags* x3
Also, I had the first volume of the Soul Eater manga out to read for later, and someone came up and went "Soul Eater rocks!" and ran away. I just chuckled and went "Yes, yes it does."
There was also an animal shelter present, and the animals were so cute! I dunno what was cuter, the real animals or the people in the fursuits. xD
Naturally I took plenty of pictures, saw some very cool and interesting people, and saw a variety of suits that made me smile.
Before I left, though, I made sure to draw Stripes on a small slip of paper and wrote "Stripes was here" next to it and pinned it to a board where other furries had done the same. =P
Overall the entire experience was amazing, simply pawsome. It went above and beyond, exceeding all of my expectations. I fully plan on going again, as well as going to other furry conventions down the road. *nods*
Hooray for Midwest Furfest! ^o^

Some interesting quotes from the night:
Mandy: Tai, we go to the hotel for this thing.
Me: Huh? But the building behind us says "convention center". I'm pretty sure its there.
Mandy: Tai, its for CAR SHOWS, there's nobody there with a tail.
Me: But why would it be at a hotel? Let's just go and check...
Mandy: There, see? Cars, I TOLD you!
Me: There's no way you can blame me for thinking...
Mandy: Oh, YES I can. Now come on you crazy coon, lets go to the hotel. *tugs my collar*
Me: H-hey, that's not what that's for! *staggers along*
Mandy: Well, it is now!
Me: I'm sorry, I find it hilarious you're the only naga here.
Mandy: I'm just unique like that. *smiles*
Me: Yeah, keep telling yourself that.
Mandy: Quiet coon, or you'll get a rabies shot.
Me: I don't have rabies! Fleas, maybe, but not rabies.
Me: Sweet, its the Dealer's Den! *runs for it*
Mandy: Umm, Tai? I'm pretty sure its closed...
Me: Crap, its closed! Stopped at 6pm today.
Mandy: Come, coon, before Mandy constricts and strangles you.
Me: Huh? How could you... ?
Mandy: Its simple. The tail would squeeze your lower body while my hands go for your neck and claw out your eyes!
Me: Naga's don't have nails!
Mandy: Well THIS one does! *snickers*
Me: Oh my Gawd, he squeaks! His maw squeaks every time he moves it! Soooo cuuuuuute!
Mandy: Dear Lord, you're too easily amused.
Me: How can you NOT be amused by that?!
Mandy: Well, considering this is more of your thing than mine, you tell me.
Me: Yeah, you've delved farther into my fandom and life than you ever expected, eh? *winks and nudges*
Mandy: I can feel my sanity slipping away as we speak.
Me: Wow, I love these guys! They're so rascally and cute!
Mandy: Its a golden retriever and... I think its a wolf? Two wolves?
Me: Yup. Aren't they the most amazing and cutest things you've ever seen?!
Mandy: I'll admit they're cute...
Me: *smiles*
Mandy: You're not gonna let me live that statement down, are you?
Me: Nooooooope.
Mandy: Okay wily coon, time to go.
ME: Noooooo! I don't wanna leave, this place is home!
Mandy: Be that as it may, you currently have most of your belonging's on campus.
Me: Crap. Is it said that my collar is one of my most prized possessions?
Mandy: Only slightly.
Me: *walks out and looks back, smiling*
