Those ARE very adorable. Large/interesting caterpillars don't really exist where I am, apart from the gum emperor caterpillar which you'll never see. I usually end up staring at monarch caterpillars.

Scary hairy thing for sure, looks sort of evil :D Sure we have such things here, I guess I will have to look for them harder in the woods. Central Europe is not known for having too many such "exotic" insects, but with patience sure some interesting shots could be captured. A Mantis maybe? Nice find, I like those, sure they give a lot of inspiration when someone wants to think out own creatures :)

Neither is New Zealand. Most of the larger or more exotic things are unlikely to be seen.
And yes, that caterpillar is kinda scary, it causes excruciating pain if touched, as pettable as it looks D:

Guessed so :) - even those less hairy things at us, when held in hand, tend to leave nasty little pins all around in the palm which would irritate the skin for days. Well, a juicy big caterpillar (ehm, remember Pumbaa? :D) should certainly put up some defenses to survive - just the law of how things are going.

Oh yes! Dragon millipedes look interesting. They remind me of a kind of native flower you can see in forests here.

That second picture confuses me slightly o_o I couldn't tell what was what on that thing until I looked it up, that's a really bizarre spider.

The first time i ever saw one of those caterpillars online the video had some woman saying "DON'T TOUCH IT" in such a sincere yet personable manner (she was clearly talking to someone else in the video, not to the viewer) that now my brain repeats it whenever I see them. I didn't realize my brain was still doing that until just now.

On the up side, I'm never gonna touch one, so this is one of the better flash frozen associations my brain has made.

Also I love insects.

That's probably the same video I first saw this caterpillar in. I think her advice is good advice, from what I've read about them.

If you ever do encounter one, you have that useful association to go by! :D Otherwise.. don't touch it!

Insects are amazing. As its getting into summer further I'm getting more chance to do some investigation of them again.
