...honestly, you know I love ya hun, but I think that the people who are treating this like some kind of victory are just as big of idiots as the ones who are waving around their 'you're violating our rights' flags.
This is not a victory, it is a crushing blow to this site. But so many people are fixated on the immediate subject that they don't realize it, since the reality of just how bad this is can only be appreciated by looking at the big picture. This goes way beyond just the trifling issue of cub porn.
well just like every other asshole with too much free time, I made a good long journal all about it. Tho I have to say, it's nowhere near as rage-inducing as most of the ones you've probably already seen, since I use actual thoughts in my statements.

I had a feeling it would be something along those lines. I really don't think that this is going to lead to the ban of other fetish-related art. The reason being that child porn is in a totally different realm of "unacceptable" than other fetishes.
First off, I'm just going to say that throwing a set of ears and a tail on a kid doesn't change anything. Cub porn = child porn.
I really don't think that cub porn can be compared to other fetishes. Fat fur? As much as it grosses some people the fuck out, it's harmless. There's no harm in being turned on by heavy men/women. Voreaphilia? While the concept of it is gruesome, it's still (at least normally) harmless, because it's anatomically impossible to attempt in real life. Pedophilia, however, is something that can be acted on in real life, and it's incredibly illegal to do so.
I'm absolutely not saying that just because someone sees a cub porn picture it means they're going to go out and rape the first kid they can find. That's just absurd. But it really can't be denied that the arts (and all forms of media really) have the potential to modify the behavior in some individuals, whether it be in a positive or negative fashion. Again, this isn't going to be the case for everyone, but seeing enough cub porn will affect some people. If they're constantly exposing themselves to it and other people who enjoy it as much as they do, it could begin to seem like an acceptable thing (not the porn itself but the actions within it), and if those individuals start thinking having sex with kids is and acceptable thing to do, then there's the risk of them acting on it. And it happens.
Of course people can't choose having a fetish. And of course having a fetish doesn't mean they're going to try and live out whatever fantasies they may have. For example, you mention being an ephebophile, and though I can't claim to know you all that well, you seem like a smart enough person with enough self-control that you wouldn't do anything illegal. And I'm sure that's the case for plenty of people. But there are other individuals out there with less control, and I really don't think it's a good idea to make something as potentially dangerous as cub porn so easily obtainable for them.
I dunno. Maybe that all sounds stupid to you. And I'm sure there are aspects of the issue I've overlooked. It wasn't until a few months ago when someone on DeviantArt posted a very thought provoking journal that I really started thinking about all of this. But I really don't think that this can be related to someone having a personal agenda against a certain fetish because it's not their cup of tea. I think there's much more to it than that. It's not just something that makes some people want to unsee what they just saw. It's dangerous.
Bleh. I'd write more, but I really have to go to sleep now. I'll touch on the things I know will inevitably get questioned once they get questioned.
First of all, cub porn is NOT child porn for the same reason that gore art is not murder. It is not an illegal act, it is an imaginary fantasy depiction of an illegal act, and while it may be disturbing to think of to some people it does not inherently harm anyone or anything. Child porn ruins lives. Cub porn causes drama on t3h intarwebz. Difference.
Second - you are correct. Seeing cub porn will undoubtably be the catalyst that sparks SOME psycho's child raping spree.
...what you fail to take into account is that for every person it INCITES to abuse a child IRL, there are probably 10 other pedos/ephebos which it PREVENTS from doing this. Take it from me, it's hard suppressing that kind of thing. I manage it easily, but I also have a good deal of willpower. Even so, I can say with complete honesty that small amounts of the aforementioned porn helps to CURB that particular appetite, and I'm sure that it's the only thing that allows some people to stay away from playgrounds. It's exactly what some of these people need to satisfy that particular part of their lives without getting into trouble.
Thrust me, there are VERY few pedos/ephebos that wouldn't give up being so if they could. I do not in any way enjoy having tastes that could get me arrested. However, just as I cannot control being attracted to both sexes, or having white skin, I cannot control how I feel about teens. It is not a choice for me, it's a physiological reaction - what IS a choice is my decision not to act on that reaction, and it's the only choice I get - which is a bit unfair to me. I mean come on - 'either suffer or hurt some poor kid' is a pretty nasty lose-lose situation.
Well anyway, my point is that it's like a twisted kind of medicine. Yeah some people may occasionally have a bad reaction to it, and people who aren't sick shouldn't take it, but overall it does more good than harm.
Actually, you're wrong. Child porn and depictions of underage sex acts are illegal by state and federal law. You can't compare this to vore or any other weird little furry fetish- it just doesn't fit. Sex acts with children are illegal, but so are depictions of the same. It's not the FA staff's job to interpret if the law is right or not. Dragoneer is not a legislator; you are not a judge. The staff is required to make sure their site is in compliance with applicable law. That's all, there's nothing more to discuss =P
0.=.o what where. Last time I looked it up fictional depictions were still covered under the right to free expression. Did they change it?
Link me to where it says that.
States have different rules on this, in the New York Penal Law under section 260 'simulated' displays of sex acts with a child are included. This is where a lot of case law comes into play and the judge's own personal additude. Regardless, this is shifty ground not in the best interest of FA to be dealing with. Freedom of expression does not mean unlimited freedom. There are some things the law of this country upholds as unhealthy and a risk to the public in any capacity- sex acts with minors included. We shouldnt be entertaining this crap.
Again, differs from state to state (as well as the federal law). Actual kiddie porn is a felony everywhere, some places go beyond that. Is this really a grey-area we should strive to be in at all?
And in some places a graphic representation of the same is criminal as well. With complications in this subject why is this even an issue worth discussing? In the end of the day the content is still pedo bullshit and if it quite qualifies as a felony is just icing on the cake.
btw, 'Neer doesn't have to adhere to anything, the only reason the cub stuff is being taken down is because the company that processes FA's funds told them to fuck off cuz of the cub stuff posted here
I wasn't equating it to the act, I was equating it to any other form of media depicting child pornography. Like a drawing of sexual act being performed with a "cub" is the same as a drawing of a sexual act being performed with an ordinary human below the age consent. Sorry for the confusion. I wouldn't be so crazy as to compare a drawing to an act.
Let's not make up statistics now.
But how do you know it's helping? I'm pretty sure there have been studies that report just the opposite (I actually found one recently. I didn't have time to read the whole thing yet, but it seems to be linking masturbation to child porn fantasies to a strengthened desire to perform the act. I'll link it to you if you want once I determine if it's relevant). In some (emphasis on the some) ways it's like a drug. A person gets the desire for it, so they look at the porn, and they feel better. Until they need to look at it again. But what happens over time? It becomes a cycle. The desire comes, they look at the porn, the desire comes, they look at the porn, and yet the desire comes again. They're conditioning themselves. What if they're denied their fix though? Then what do they do? And can the same kind of stimulation keep them satisfied for their entire lives? Or is it strengthening their desire? Of course it'll feel like it's helping in the short term, but what about the long term? Of course the desire will more than likely never go away no matter what, but I think that there are better ways to deal with it than the former.
And honestly, if someone is so controlled by their fetish that they need the porn to behave normally, if it's the only thing keeping them from going to the playground, then I think that they need psychological help :/
Of course it's not something that you can help. That's why I kept saying people can't choose their fetish in my last post. It's not your fault. Not even slightly. People are born the way they are. But there are different ways to deal with things.
1) Ah, alright. Yeah, I'll give you that point. Drawn cub = drawn kid. That's fair enough.
2) Granted it IS a cycle... however, it's not like that of a drug where you become desensitized. YOu just crave new experiences, is all. The same thing happens with REGULAR porn - after looking at the same pics/vids for a while, they get boring. But that doesn't mean you have to go outside the genre to find something stimulating again - if ur thing is gore or whatever and you get bored of the same 5 pics you normally look at, there's no need to look at real photographs of gore or go kill someone; you just google around for 5 NEW pics and that'll keep you tided over for yet another while. Al long as people continue to draw gore, you're set.
3) even if it WAS true that this causes a downward spiral, the alternative (not being provided with the drawn stuff) is far worse, since it would produce the same negative effects, only immediately. You NEVER crave something more than when you're told that you can't have it - that's human nature. We all remember from our history classes how well prohibition went. Preventing access to fictionally depicted CP would only cause those who would look at it to get desperate and either obtain it illegally, or if they have lower moral standards just try for the real thing.
As an ephebophile I can say with perfect honesty that if I was ever a parent, I would FULLY support fictionally depicted CP, if for no other reason than that it would give the pedos/ephebos out there a good LEGAL way to get their rocks off without hurting anyone, and would keep them from staring uncomfortably at my teenage daughter.
3) "And honestly, if someone is so controlled by their fetish that they need the porn to behave normally, if it's the only thing keeping them from going to the playground, then I think that they need psychological help "
I couldn't agree more. People like that SHOULD seek help. But they don't for the most part, presumably due to fears of being judged.
Personally I don't give a flying fuck WHAT ppl think, so I'm open about who/what I am. I've never hurt a kid and I'd cut my dick off before I ever even seriously entertained the thought.
4) And thank you for that last part, you now have more of a brain then half the forum posters put together.
FFFFF sorry I keep not responding to this. I was hoping I'd finally have the time to sit down and write a well thought out response to this over the weekend, but final projects said no. I will respond to this eventually! X.x

referring to all the long ranty journals, not this one

see now I would have agreed with most of your statement if you hadn't added that last line
Imma give you a newspaper whack 4 that in april. You think I'll forget, but I won't... >.=.>
