Help me, younger generation with video game knowledge!
My much-younger brother wants stuff for his Wii for xmas. I know nothing about any game system newer than the N64 (my interest in games ended after Tetris). Two questions.
First one is easy. He wants someone else to be able to play with him. What do I need to buy - remote, nunchuck, or both?
Second is an essay question. Recommend me a game or two. He seems to prefer the games where you can just run around doing whatever you want as opposed to the ones with a strict storyline you have to follow. He also likes Mario.

FA+

2) Monster Hunter Tri... or any of the Lego series 8D Lego Batman, Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Star Wars, Lego Harry Potter... yup.
I don't know any games for the wii though, I don't have one
Also, Okami if he doesn't already have it.
for one start you can get two wii remotes and two nunchucks wii remote and with a nunchuck are able to play a lot of games.
it have some other crontols, but for a start it is good.
and for the second question, i know a lot of games, you can get for him, mario world, mario party, super smash brawl (this one is just awesome) some of sonic is also nice, like sonic unleashed, mario kart.
i hope that it helps ya ^^
I liked those games 030
Why ?
... Never beat either of them, though.
I want to enjoy them!
Except from Pempti :)
I would recommend both remote AND nunchuck. A lot of games use both.
2. I hardly ever get to play mine, but there's a game called Tornado Outbreak that's pretty fun.
The Zelda Twilight princess game is a lot like Ocarina of Time but a bit more darker yeah. In the beginning of the game is pretty hard & limited but once you get through it, your free to run around going to each dungeon whenever you see fit. lol I bet your bro may have that game already though. =P
New Super Mario Bros Wii is FUCKING HILARIOUS AWESOME in multiplayer, no matter your age. If you suck at it, it doesn't get any less fun. You only need the normal pointer, not a nunchuk, though it can be played both ways. Alone it's a semi-retro mario platformer, but when we played it 2 or 3 together we were laughing a lot. It doesn't allow much free running, although.. there's level selects.. it's a lot like the ol' Mario games that way.
Zelda, Super Mario Brothers, Super Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Country, any of the Lego (X) games, Super Smash Brothers.
You can use 3 different controllers with it (gamecube, wiimote, wiimote with nunchuck, and maybe another accessory)
It plays with 4 people at a time it's Co-op all the way through
IT'S AWESOME and you can play it a million times and not get bored (believe me). Great story (can be co-op) awesome graphics, and amazing play.
Even not-so-game-savy people can play it
Anyway, first off, yes, both. You'd need a remote and nunchuck for most games, so getting one would be nice.
As for the second part, I highly agree with
Okami for the win. It has a set storyline, but there are countless hours of free-roaming to be done and, at least for me, plenty of replay value. Other than that, there are the failsafe Mario games and Kirby's Epic Yarn(Also try the new Donkey Kong Country and DEFINITELY Epic Mickey, that one sounds about perfect for what you are looking for). Other than that, there are plenty of good multiplayer games for if he wanted to do that, like Super Smash Bros Brawl and things like Wii Music(Which I had a lot of band-geeking to do on that game with my three old band-geeky friends). The Wii is best for multiplayer games and that sort of thing, honestly, it's a real good 'party' system.
@_@ Phew. Sorry, I am regurgitating info at this point. I just got off of work and I work at Gamestop. :C Gamestop + Black Friday... BAH
Firstly, you'll want him to be properly decked out so he can play his games with as much freedom and variety as possible.
This means he should own at least 2 wii remotes, 2 wii nunchuks, and 1 nes controller for wii.
Next, you should get him games that are popular and multiplayer online and/or offline. I don't have suggestions in regard for this but it should be a priority when getting the following games.
Zelda Twilight Princesses is solo game that is amazing. Super Smash Bros Brawl is solo multiplayer online&offline with the options to make custom levels and countless characters and replayability. Of the mario games the Mario Galaxy 1&2 have a high difficulty so only buy them if he enjoys a challenge. New Super Mario Brothers on the other hand is simpler and has options for multiplayer and even character selection. The Monster Hunter Games mentioned previously are also a good series of games for those who enjoy a game that is combat based & economy/crafting based that revolves around the players soley but offers multiplayer online options.
Finally if he likes Pokemon be sure to get Pokemon Revolution.
