. leaving? .

. can you feel the sunshine? does it brighten up your day? . (no. not me. i dont even draw "regular" porn)
so..
how many of ya'll are leaving FA?
it had an exodus years ago when it "allowed" cub porn;
its having an exodus now as its disallowing it.
i'm seeing people flipping out on both sides aaaaaand to be honest i dont really care, since porn does nothing for me (let alone porn of prepubescent fuzzballs).
my understanding is this -
FA's sponsors are threatening to pull money and support because of this "grey area", because if the law ever did become finite about this issue (depictions of CP), all of the parties involved, including FA and alertpay/paypal/whomever, would probably be under investigation.
where as this sucks for cub-porn artist, i'm sorry. FA is doing what it can to keep alive. if this means, cutting of an arm to save a body, then that is their choice to make as a COMPANY. this isnt to "single your fetish out". it just so happens that depictions of your fetish is sitting the fence on being illegal; where as depictions of murder, gore, rape or what-have-you are not (and from what i understand, the "freedom of speech" tactic doesnt hold water on a privately owned site).
if you have an issue, then it probably is best to find greener pastures. as of right now, this company (FA) has its hands tied and can no longer provide you with the service that you desire. part of good business is knowing when to take risks and when to play it safe.
tl;dr = depictions of CP are illegal-ish, while depictions of other "weird" fetishes are not. FA is just playing it safe, it doesnt hate you.
with that said
are any of you actually leaving?
do you think it will really have as bad of a crippling effect on FA when people do leave, as some are saying?
just wondering.

FA+

...and no way am I leaving. : P
Leaving FA sometime next year, but not cause of the cub porn but cause me and
so many are loving to use well furry = beastiality, what if that becomes illegal
I happily stated "Then wouldnt bug me, I'll just hang out with my Anime/hentai pals more"
But yeah.. I worry a whole lot about other fetishes, because it just doesnt seem fair to me..
I'm not leaving because It doesnt really affect me, but I just hope it doesnt branch out into anything else because I personally dont like the idea of doing that to people.
yyyyyeah...
I've said this elsewhere, but the reactions in places have been so disheartening and unfortunate. I know why the art's being removed; that was a necessary business decision and that I have no truck with. When I say behavior have been disheartening, I'm talking about the sad attitudes, smug gloating, popping up on FA parts lately, of all those who people who try to dehumanize others talking about how horrible people who like this art are, or then try and expand it to babyfurs or whatever other kink the gloater does not like in some kind of attempt to ignore the "ewww gross" induced by their own kinks as they jeer and hoot and holler about someone else's quirks.
As I've gotten older, I've found my taste for bitterness and snark souring more and more. And I'm really, really saddened by all the outright mean gloating and jeering and sneering. It seems to have some sort of high-horse morally self-righteous thrust behind it that irritates me, creeps me right the hell out and makes me sad all at once. It's like they might understand the very real human-ness of whoever's behind the kink, but they don't give one whit. It's like they would rather be jackasses, because jackassery is easier.
I just kind of wish there wasn't so much dehumanizing of people who have a fetish that they find distasteful. It's like underage pr0n arts are getting all the misplaced guilt and shame that other furries might have for liking vore or giant dongs or gore or something. The bdsm community has a similar acronym summing up that attitude: YKINOK, aka Your Kink Is Not Okay. Which, considering the nature of most furries is general is kind of a weird sort of group cannibalization. It's a change that happened so FA can continue to gain ad revenue and donations... it's not like this ban says it's okay to bash people for what they like.
I am a real life survivor of childhood sexual abuse. I was raped when I was six years old. You'd think that would mean I'd want cub porn artists hung by thier collective thumbs. I'm a babyfur (duh), but while cub porn isn't something that is personally my thing, I am friends with those that have drawn it. In fact, some of these artists have been the most understand and supportive of me re: this situation. And just like the babyfurs I know, these cub artists are adults placing themselves in the role of the cub. I have not run across a single person that draws that sort of thing and has not also drawn a huge glowing red line between fantasy and reality. So, yeah, as an actual child survivor of sexual abuse, seeing people equate those that create a fantasy thing where no actual real anyone is harmed and is done through consensual adults is the same as real life abuse of a kid is grossly offensive to me and minimizes the real pain from a real act that I really went through. I find it pretty sad that artists , which of all people one would think would get the line between fantasy and reality bit, the whole "Okay, does't move me, but doesn't hurt anyone either" are now celebrating the fact that other artists are now not allowed to make certain kinds of art that doesn't hurt anyone, involving fantasy characters that never existed in situations that never happened.
In a further irony, my pal bridgeportcat pointed out that "...one of the admins being a dude who has, on multiple occasions, openly discussed having REAL LIFE RELATIONS with his pet dog. Shit you not. So ok, cub art and fantasy and not reality is absolutely wrong, but jacking off your REAL DOG in REAL LIFE and admitting to it and then being put on the staff but being told TSK TSK DON'T TALK ABOUT THAT PUBLICLY ANYMORE WINK WINK is ok? I DON'T GET IT."
Yeah. I don't either.
didn't care for CP, won't miss it.
Just a little clarification:
What's happened is that AlertPay (another pay-service like PayPal) has already closed Fur Affinity's account, as a result of being alerted to CP on FA. All funds (donated by users of FA or otherwise) sitting in FA's AlertPay account have been seized, and (as a result of Canada's strict laws on child pornography, because AlertPay is a Canadian company) has refused the opportunity for FA to appeal the shut-down and seizing of their account/funds.
You're on the right page for everything else though: The ban is a result of keeping financial options open, and not a moral issue as it was in '06/'07.
Personally, I'm very glad the pornographic cub material is gone. And at the same time, it's not like ALL cub material is being banned, just the adult works. If it's REALLY that much of an issue for users to no longer have that particular pornographic material, they can move elsewhere.
I'll be staying.
Whether cub porn specifically would be considered illegal under Canadian law, who knows, but as Dragoneer said somewhere in that all too long thread: He certainly wouldn't stand up in court and defend it
So yeah
I think that fictional depictions of illegal activities should be legal, because fining or imprisoning people over lines on paper is just too damn silly
But I would never defend cub porn, because no matter how unrealistic, it still smells of pedophilia and for me that's just... no
Cub porn being banned, good riddance
