RIP Leslie Neilsen
General
Heard about it last night but it's only really sunk in now.
Like many aging performers, he was a huge part of my childhood, and part of my happier memories from that time. I remember loving the Naked Gun series and Airplane continues to be a favourite movie of mine.
Rest in Peace Shirley, we'll miss you.

This actually upset me. He filled my childhood, I watched Naked Gun so many times. I have also caught a glimpse of some of his older drama work, it's strange that such a seriously trained actor changed his tac so completely because of Airplane. That was the last really dramatic role he played, he went the comedy route after that.
I was a bit surprised when I heard on the news that he died...
Rest in peace Leslie Nielsen, your talent in the art of dry comedy will never be forgotten.
And may you still bring smiles on the faces of the next generation of children and youngsters across the world.

Cmdr. Adams:" Didn't bring my bathing suit."
Altaira: "What's a bathing suit?"
Adams :"...Oh murder!"
RIP Mr. Neilsen
In November 2010, Nielsen was admitted to a Fort Lauderdale, Florida hospital for pneumonia. On November 28, Dr. Doug Nielsen, Nielsen's nephew, announced to the CJOB radio station that Nielsen had died in his sleep around 5:30 p.m. EST, surrounded by family and friends.
in his own words:
"I'm afraid if I don't keep moving, they're going to catch me ... I am 81 years old and I want to see what's around the corner, and I don't see any reason in the world not to keep working. But I am starting to value my down time a great deal because I am realizing there might be other things to do that I am overlooking."—Nielsen reflecting on his career in 2007
He gave us all some great memory's

Drebin:I love you too Nordberg.
May do in next few days.
Man, was a hero of mine...loved his films
Wow that sucks.
=(
I'll make sure to accidently knock someone down a flight of stairs for him XD. We'll miss you Shirley!!!
Rest well Mr. Neilson, and if you come back as a vampire or zombie, we'll still remember ya and ask for a remake of those movies :D
Rumack: You’d better tell the Captain we’ve got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.
Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?
Rumack: It’s a big building with patients, but that’s not important right now.
Also, check him out in the sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet! He broke into comedy so well because he was such a serious, well-regarded actor.
Man, I'll miss his appearances. He even made Superhero Movie funny.
The funny thing about Leslie is how his very character became one with comedy. I remember seeing him playing a corrupt senator in the detective series "Father Downling" and I expected him, every moment, to slip on a banana peel or say "And don't call me Shirley." He was typecast as a comedic guy, but man, he was good at that.
I think John Lithgow is a similarly good dramatic actor tho I'm most familiar with him from 3rd Rock from the Sun. Have to admit, he terrified the living crud out of me in his run on 'Dexter' tho.
I'd probably extend the same opinion over to Jim Carrey. When he's not chewing the scenery (out of habit or bad direction I'm not sure) he's actually quite compelling.
3rd Rock from the Sun? Haven't seen that yet... I'll check it...
