Fucking Creepers!!! I just got an amazing game called Minecraft. you can go and play the free version at http://www.minecraft.net/ and if you like it, then buy Alpha so you can play survival mode and get your arse handed to you by ENDLESS HORDES OF CREEPERS!!!!! no, seriously, go play this game, it is completely worth any free time you might have, and the lowly 14 USD or 9.95 EUR for alpha mode.
But I guess it would help to know what minecraft is, huh? Okay, well Minecraft is this super amazing game where you just run around (first person perspective) and mine/build/dig/plant/bomb/eat/kill/farm/craft/die/die some more/ die again/ get killed by zombies/get killed by skeletons/get killed by spiders/get killed by skeletons RIDING spiders/ get killed by walking bombs called Creepers (Make sure to 'thank' Notch for his lovely creation)/ die from falling/make a boat-vator/wire up automatic doors/make a pulsing dance floor/ help me build a digital clock
everything in the world of Minecraft is beautifully lo-res, and amazingly customizable, my character looks like a dude from TRON (which is coming out again soon w00t!)
in creative mode, you can run around an island and build lovely art and stuff, like yoshi (I made a yoshi) and pixel art is very popular. You start off with all of the available blocks and you get to just screw around with what you have. Or you can try multiplayer, and visit/make a new world with hotels and fountains, and volcanoes, and airships, and maybe land yourself a spot on the builder list so that you can make stuff that other people can't destroy!! A great place to start is the lowground server on world of minecraft, which you can find a link to at Minecraft.net
In Alpha mode, aka Survival, you are dropped on seemingly endless island (I have never seen and edge, but it might be possible) complete with different biomes like taigas and plains, swamps, rainforests, and deserts. and you have to survive, which sounds easy until it gets dark out. If you don't have at least 10 torches and a dirt hut to hide in for the duration of the night, or some seriously badass fighting while running from 5,000,000 enemies skills, then you WILL die, and then respawn the same place you started the game, and you have to race to get your items back.
Multiplayer in alpha mode is still a mystery to me, because I haven't found a server that doesn't automatically crash when I join. But hey, it's gotta be fun.
And if you still aren't convinced, go to youtube and search for minecraft, or search for Spleef, the official sport of minecraft.
