I'm not sure what good reporting will do. Morca is just a character. I don't think you'd be able to report for impersonation.

You don't have to register things for there to be copyright in most of the world, as copyright is automatic, even if not declared. However, characters are kind of special, at least in the US, where simply having a character doesn't mean it is necessarily copyrightable. If you have a collection of copyrighted works with a character in them that is distinct enough, then the character becomes copyrighted in a sense, since I think the reasoning is that using that character would be considered a derived work from those copyrighted works. How much is needed is kind of grey like a lot of copyright things and would have to be determined by a court on a case by case basis. My uneducated guess would be a single image or description of a character might not be enough, but if you have many images or a long, in depth story, etc., you would have much more of a case.

(Although one can register a design trademark I think on a character... but that is a whole, completely different mess from copyright.)

Short version: Anything tangable you create (eg: art) is automatically protected by copyright laws. The name 'Morca' isn't, but his art sure is.

The submission, the image itself, is copyrighted. The characters in it are not.

Characters are copyrighted. Otherwise someone other than Disney could start making Mickey Mouse cartoons and claim it was theirs.

Characters can not be copyrighted at all. They are trademarked, and only after you go through a legal process claiming it as your own. Disney owns Mickey Mouse, but Morca does not own Morca.

Graphical characters can be both copyrighted and trademarked. Just when a character can be copyrighted and what protection that offers are a little grey. Some case examples are listed in this article: http://www.publaw.com/graphical.html

It happened with Dragoneer a little while ago and reporting it got it taken down.

Muzz had this problem not long ago, she informed facebook that it was her art being used and they took it down

Just report them, they're violating Facebook in two ways. Impersonation and porn in the case of this one; I reported that profile.

Hope you will be able to fix that trouble soon though. This happen quite often with me, especially using more my name than my character actually. It became quite annoying to try opening a account somewhere, without finding out that the name is already taken for instance.
