I've recently learned how to make these awesome dolls using crochet and I've made a few of them as gifts and am in the process of making one for a trade along with (finally) one for myself.
Now, I don't see an issue with the gift giving or anything, but I was wondering how other people viewed this. What should be my moral stance on using these patterns to make commissions?
I mean, I'd be using the patterns as a base to make the characters of other people, but I don't know if that'd be the same as taking like...a how-to-draw book and just applying the colors of someone's character or just tracing a template that someone made.
Obviously, I feel this takes enough time and effort where I would feel it is my own, but because I'm using the author's pattern as a base I don't really know how to approach this, if I should see it as completely theirs no matter how much I change the pattern to make a different animal or different colors or outfits and I was wondering what you all thought.
Any input would be great =)

I really wouldn't worry about it if I were you, and I would check where you got the pattern if it says anything on the matter, though I don't think it would.
