I'm spoiled on the writings of such authors as Michael Crichton and Christopher Paolini, so it's kinda hard for me to gather enough interest to risk disappointment by some online person.

*pokes* Todd is way better than Christopher Paolini.

In fact, nearly every author is better than Christopher Paolini.

Tolkien is the sh*t. I used to have a giant graphic novel of The Hobbit when I was a wee lil' toddler, and I read that thing until the pages literally wore apart. ~<3

Bwargh, graphic novels based on real books never live up to the original!

Speaking of The Hobbit, it's supposed to start filming in February over in New Zealand. Peter Jackson(was that his name?) is the director, just like with LOTR. I even heard it's possibly going to be a two-part movie, so they can fit in more story! *joyous flail*

Believe me, it lived up to the original. It read out just like a movie...

Who else do you like? Have you ever read any R.A. Lafferty? Sci-Fi and humor FTW.

I don't read too much Sci-Fi, mostly just fantasy, though I did read 'Alien'. R.A. Salvatore is one of my faves, most of his writing is based off the Forgotten Realms branch of campaigns for D&D. I strongly recommend trying his 'Legend of Drizzt' series!

I also enjoy Dave Barry, he's a comedy columnist who also writes hilarious books. Try his book 'Dave Barry Does Japan'.

I've already read quite a bit of Dave Berry. It's required reading in Florida, along with Carl Hiaasen. XD

Ursula K. Le Guin is pretty good. She toes the line between sci-fi and fantasy.

A good book I've read recently is "Shades of Grey" by Jasper Fforde. I'd recommend it. As for graphic novels, "The Walking Dead" is sweet!
And for manga, I've recently been burning through "20th century Boys by Naoki Urasawa. Come to think of it, most of his work is amazing.
