Tabletop RP: Savage Eberron Signup
Only two years have passed since a devastating war has shook the world. The manufactured warforged that enabled such great destruction still wander the world, free to pursue their own goals, only to be despised by all those that have lost loved ones in the war.
The story starts in Wroat, Breeland, the country hit the least by the war. Trains powered by lightning elementals pass through on a regular basis, carrying goods and providing transportation for the people. Tensions are high between the nations and the noble houses. All are vying for power, but the nations have more to lose, thus the current treaty.
The system I'll be running this in is Savage Worlds, which has a fast and gritty feel to it. Eberron in this way will be only moderately magical, with most of that being from enchanted or artificed items, like the lightning rail. No resurrection and magical healing is less reliable. There's functionally no difference between wizards and sorcerers, and clerics and wizards are also similar, but wizards don't have access to healing and priest spells typically don't benefit from elemental effects. Flavor is what sets them apart the most. Artificer is available, using the Weird Science powerset from the book. Warforged are also possible to play, though this is a tough road to go down.
Despite where I'm posting this, this will not be a furry game, just the standard Eberron races. This will be a weeknight game on Thursday nights, running from 8pm to 1:00 AM EST. Given how notorious online attendance is, I'm looking for a total of 8 players, one of which will be a GM helper which will need to understand the rules and field basic questions so I can focus on the narrative and keep things moving. The game will be held using Maptool. ( http://rptools.net/ ) You can apply to play here. A brief blurb about the character you would like to play will improve your chances of making the list.
Note: It's okay if you're not familiar with the Savage Worlds rules, they're easy to learn. A primer can be found here: http://www.peginc.com/Downloads/SWEX/TD06.pdf

Einar Fidelli. Human male, 23. Born in the Howling Peaks of Zilargo. Started Traveling virtually the moment he was old enough. Believes in a higher power that respects travel, action, and self discovery above passive or urban lifestyle, religion is affiliated with wind(know very little about religious details of the setting, so i'm trying to be vague). Good natured if perhaps a little to care free, he seeks to help others though lacks any particular plan to do so or overarching goals related to it, wishes for little more then to experience all he can and improve himself through these experiences. He has a general distrust of people, even those he knows well, though tends not to show it, feeling that it is best to let people lie or cheat, just always be prepared to keep their actions from harming you. His desire to learn and know coupled with his religious beliefs lead him to travel always and often, and he will frequently serve as an escort simply because there is a new destination involved. His current location is a result of this, having just arrived in Wroat after traveling with a small trade group. Artificer is a likely path for him if no one else seems to be taking that route.
I'm tempted to borrow FATE's aspect system, if only because it gives me a few easy to digest ways to hook and motivate characters in the story.
Curious a bit for more on the setting, predominantly about the era. Are we talking steam punk sort of tech, early industrial, present day...? Also, what are you using as a reference for class/build rules? You said you're not sticking to strick classes, but savage worlds doesn't list any sort of class data. Don't want to assume things and step into uncharted territory.
By the way, which edition were you using; 3, 3.5, or 4?
Many years ago a friend who had moved to Arizona planned her vacation around coming back for a couple of games in my campaign. Then one summer we (my wife & I) drove over to Orlando every other week for a game at Enterprise 1701 (back before they changed their name to Sci-Fi City). For the last decade or so a bunch of my former players all come to DragonCon in Atlanta every year so that we can spend a day or two gaming after the con... But no, I don't think I could drive from Daytona to Tampa on a regular basis - I'm just not young enough to survive that kind of shenanigans anymore.
However, we are planning to attend Necronomicon this October: http://www.stonehill.org/necro.htm
