I concur. Amnesia: Dark Descent.
If that doesn't work, try its predecessor, Penumbra
X-Com: UFO Defense is also surprisingly frightening, if you like tactical games.
BioShock is very atmospheric, and if that can't run, you should try to find a copy of SystemShock 2 instead.
Hopefully some of those hit a mark.

i like your Choices, one of my Favriote and "Silly" horror games.. is Calling, Such a Stuupid story, but it has some funny scarry moments... like "Your being Watched" mode... where you gotta look around the room to find whats seeing ya :P

I got the Amnesia demo, and I'm playing it right now. Can you die if your sanity gets really low? I keep getting nervous that that's going to happen. XD;

Yeah, it's the only game with a "Sanity" meter, your character actually goes crazy and hallucinates, as well as messes with the player big time, in more ways than most horror/suspense games.

You want something scary for the PS2? Two games come to mind:
Silent Hill 2:
This one is a classic. Atmosphere's spooky, characters are well developped, the gore and sound is very effective.

Siren:
Okay... people hate this game. I personally couldn't handle how hard it was. But FUCK is it scary. Monsters cannot die, and even most of your characters are completely harmless. You gotta sneak around in a mountain town that was -flooded- by a red river and turned everyone into "Shibito", which are zombies. The kick is that your main character has a super power in which he can see through the eyes of the zombies. It's intense.

I've played Silent Hill 2! I was looking for it for the longest time. I liked it but holy crap the end was so terrifying.
With it's... mindfuckery and whatnot.

I've never heard of Siren. :O I'll have to look it up. Sounds intense.

Hey also... on your icon you're playing DS. Ever considered the Dementium series? They're actually really scarry.
