that guy has made a few books like that allready,
ChrisHart is not mainstream because weeaboo losers are not mainstream,
:)
I mean mainstream as in "this guy is the walmart-brand of how-to-draw books" :P
I picked up a few cartooning ones on animal characters, which can be considered furry as well.
The last one I saw in the bookstore had at least one pic by Miu, actually...
And oddest of odds, they sell about a copy a month. And I live in a small town o_o
If you want more mainstream, a furry artists has published a "How to draw dragons" book.
(I thought it was Amber, creator of http://www.missmab.com , but can't find one by her. It might be J. "Neon Dragon" Peffer, but I'm not sure. I just recognized the persons primary dragon character drawn throughout the book.)
I don't want furryness to go mainstream. I hate the word mainstream itself, lots of bad and deserved connotations.
I guess I'll have to stop by the local book store when I'm in town and check. :)
She's so awesome...
I think I have six or seven books by him.
Don't remember what was on the cover or see who the author was however >.<;
I thought that was it is, my bad!
But yea, "How to draw furry" books been out for a while now actually.
It looks like this with the title and on a book: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3105030/
All that said, I have about 12 of his books for different genres and styles. They're not the most technical books, but they're a HECK of a lot easier to understand and learn from than that How-to-draw-Anime series that everyone told me I NEEDED when I was early doodling. Very good books for starting to medium artists with a 'toonish slant to their style.
(And even if done right we'll still look like oddballs. )
I'd be happy with people getting to the point they can suggest anthro characters in media and it seems perfectly normal again. Kinda' like what seems to be happening in France, what with the Orangina commercials, and Meet Buck, etc...
Christopher Hart... I saw his books, his art is not bad, but also not good enough for me to buy and study for it. Ofcourse I looked mostly at the cartoon books, haha
Why is there a need for a furry book? Shouldn't people just... get general art skills on humans, animals, in whatever style they prefer, and then use their own fantasy? Eh, I guess I'm just not a fan of most art books.
Not to mention the title of the book, argh!
I hate his teaching style and his art is so mundane and uninteresting.
Disney, UA, WB, etc anyone?!
