Might as well hate modern society. Because economics run our lives and capitalism is the biggest such system of all.

That being said holidays, much like any social event, are destined to change with the times. Overall the theme of Christmas has remained relatively the same since the Victorian era. We could go back to the Medieval version of Christmas, which was like April Fools day x10. :D

i would say capitalism is the way we live now but there are better ways

I would agree inherently that it's not the best system, but no system is that great really. There's a lot that sounds great on paper but once implemented the holes shine through.

Capitalism is the source of many problems, any economic system will be a source for issues in every society. That's the human condition.
