I disklike emos because they have a very sad look at life, when they could be living in MUCH worse conditions. I mean, if young teenage Americans think they are in a crappy life, they should probably go across either ocean and see what the hell happens there. When they get depressed, they wallow in their sadness and listen to emo music, which then envokes further sadness.

Regardless, I don't necesarily hate emo kids for the fact of being emo...I just dislike emo in general. Why not listen to more uppity music? *shrug*

To be honest (and sadly, obvious), I still have yet to exactly figure out what is "emo" or not. I mean, I hear any number of moody, angry and/or depressing music, and somebody pops up snickering about emo bands. I'm fairly certain that angst is a main gear in the whole emo-thing, but whenever people point out a huge number of very different songs and declare them "emo", I get confused. How can I tell if it is emo-bashing or just merely bashing an overwrought, melodramatic song?

And people overextend the definition, and try to make me feel bad for listening to anything just for having LYRICS or any kind of emotion period. Even on GOOD non-emo music. So my advice is that you ignore the labels and listen for yourself, I think. :)

Going by stereotypes here (keep that in mind), "Emo" is basically "Goth" minus vampires, plus metrosexuality.
Funny thing is, of all the people I've met who apparently fit into either group, I've yet to meet any who are whiny, angsty bastards like everyone thinks they are... I'm sure they exist somewhere, though.

I have no idea what emo shoud be defined, all i see is people writing about emo kids suck and making fun of emo kids. This sounds pretty stupid to me. It seems as if emo is totaly fictional and is just used to label every thing that would disturb certain people in their own point of view as absurd.

Emo is slang derived from Emotional. I think a good description of Emo people are the type of individual who uses excessive drama to get attention or to get his/her way. People like this have been known to listen to certain music which got dubbed Emo as well. Over time, the term has evolved a lot so I am not sure what more it may mean.

For the most part these "Emo" people are spoiled by parents that love them and are willing to drop them off at school because their lazy asses don't like waking up early for the bus. Then when they're asked 'why they were home late' they flip out and curse then blog about it.

Sir, I know the point you're trying to make, but I don't think it's a trend to bash things you don't like. (Unless you're an apple or linux user. </flambait>) If I listen to a specific genre of music because I like how it sounds, does that make me trendy? No, because the act of being trendy is changing what you like and do, while being current for status. Like Emo trend and Pop Art. Its not about the emo kids as much as people extend the definition to mean everything they don't like, like certain clothes and any kind of rock music.
And I know people who really don't hate emo kids, but bash them to be trendy. Heck my little sister went from being emo to an emo basher because she thought it was cooler to be in the latter group.

I would find it ironic if someone called and emo 'gay' because the reason 'gay' was used to describe homosexuals is because they seemed more 'festive' then the average person. Atleast when refering to males.

To be honest I'm not much aware of what emo is. Wait. I actually have nothing to say. I wish hating emo or even being emo was IN here but noooo... Propably every popular enough trendy theme creates a group that solely lives of bashing it. Which might be ~fun unless you take it seriously or do it because it's trendy too which resembles kind of death spiral but this was said already.
