Slight change of plans

...So. To make a very long and convoluted story much shorter, the car rental place shafted us at (literally) the last minute, and although I should've been at my parents' by now, I'm still at home, and won't be able to see them at all this year. This sucks major salty balls, because the only time I've been able to see my family in the past two years was for a funeral this past Fourth of July. The reason I haven't mentioned this sooner is because I've been moping around the apartment since Monday being depressed over this.
However, I will still be going out of town. I'm heading back to my old town to stay with friends, so my partner and I don't have to spend Xmas in a vacuum. This town is MUCH closer than my parents' place, so our senile old car will actually be able to survive the trip.
This means a couple of things for people waiting on commissions from me:
1. The dates I will be away from home will be different. We're leaving either tomorrow or the next day, and won't be getting back until AFTER New Year's. So you probably won't see anything until Jan. 2 or 3 at the earliest. I'm sorry.
2. Since we'll be staying with some bawdy, somewhat messy friends instead of the serene, isolated mountain house my parents have, I may not be able to get as much art done over holiday as I'd originally hoped. This shouldn't mean much more than a couple of extra days tacked on to the wait; if it does end up meaning more than that, I'll let ya'll know as soon as I know.
