Moving update...

Well, the biggest thanks goes to my dad for helping so much with the moving. I posted a few weeks ago here and on Live Journal to see if any local friends would have time to help us move and the only reply I got was to suggest that I post my advertisement to a local Live Journal group rather than just to my journal. I decided against doing that becuase I would like the help of my friends and even though lots of local furrs are nice and trustworthy, I am not sure that I would want someone I don't really know helping with it.
So, with no help other than my boyfriend Jon and my dad, we are working like crazy to get the moving done by the end of the month. I had to work every day but Christmas last week but this week I am only scheduled 2 days so I hope we get it all done. My dad and his truck have been the most important asset.
Unfortunately, he had a little bit of difficulty with helping us. When I was working one day last week, my dad and Jon had the truck loaded and were driving in traffic. The light turned green but there was nowhere to go as the traffic was all backed up. The driver behind them didn't seem to notice and crashed right into the back of my dad's truck. The truck has relatively minor damage, it's a Chevy Silverado and seems to be built like a tank! The back bumber is bent under the truck a bit but not far enough to cause it to need emergency repairs, and the car hit them so hard that the cap on the bed of the truck actually chifted about 2 inches. The little red car that hit them was not so fortunate, the front end was crushed so badly that they had difficulty opening the doors. The man driving literally said he looked at something else and didn't see the truck stopped! His wife in the passenger seat didn't have her seatbelt on and her head hit the windshield, causing it to crack. Dad and Jon could not even tell what type of car the little red car was due to the extreme damage to the front. When dad got out of the truck, he didn't seem to upset and mentioned to the other driver "I see you like my bumper" ... the other driver was not so amused but jon liked the joke. My dad and Jon were not hurt. Jon had a little back pain cause he was actually shifting positions in the seat when the accident happened, but he feels fine now.
