2010...

I would like to ask that everyone do their damnedest to take the bad from this year and learn whatever you can from it. What's the point of negative experiences if you don't learn from them? I guess to drag you down and make you upset... Forcing you to remember that yes, you are indeed human like everyone else. But there are lessons that can help ease the negativity created by the events and you can apply them later on to help prevent those negative situations from coming back.
Example: I ended up not passing a class this year because I didn't save money for the book in that class and had to wait three weeks of the term without the required book. That set me up to be far behind and, after failing the midterm, I ended up giving up. This was quite a negative experience for me as it caused a good deal stress and I was beating myself up for it... But I learned that, if I save a bit of money for books, I will have a significantly easier time passing classes in the future to help prevent that from happening again.
Okay, not a GREAT example of a negative situation (there's been eh... Quite a few this year for me) but it was a great example of something I learned from it and I'm actually somewhat glad that I have this knowledge now, instead of being much further in my education and fucking up like that again.
I also would like to ask people to reflect on the POSITIVE things that happened this year. Things that made you feel good and brought you joy and hope at the time and in the future.
For me, the most positive thing to happen was getting married to my lovely wife and high school sweetheart, Jazzie. I've been much happier since we got married and I know that this will bring me plenty of joy in the future.
Okay, not as amazing of a journal as I had hoped... But eh, it gets the job done. I may post something extra before the new year (quite possibly blitzed out of my mind and totally not puking in a car...) but if not... Happy New Year everyone! Remember, this is a chance to build off of your successes in the previous year and to strive towards the goals that you set for yourself in the future!
