Gonna move to a tropical place and need some help from local

Do you live in a tropical country or have visited one as more than a tourist or know someone who fits that description? I'm looking to move to such a place and cut down my cost of living expenses to around 20% of what I'm spending now, oh and living somewhere warm too :)
I really need fast reliable internet so that I can continue to work and low crime. I've been checking out several south american countries and some islands. Originally I was thinking of Belize or Costa Rica, but now I'm thinking about Ecuador.
If you have a place you'd like to recommend send me a comment. I'm pretty good at French so I can probably pick up Spanish pretty quickly.
Oh and I'll get around to finishing up the last journal sometime soon ;)

If you mean Fahrenheit...meh, that's what blankets and snuggling is for.

If you plan to move to one, be prepared for one heavy kick to the butt.
Well, I hear hawaii (off the mail island) is nice, Good internet, and no crime... But that is -AS LONG AS YOU STAY OFF THE MAIN ISLAND- you don't have to learn any languages... and its warm (and not as humid as one would expect) I myself considered moveing there... turned out i didn't because i had someoen to stay behind for... but that is another story for another day
The cost of living here is atrocious, though. Food costs double what it does on the mainland US, and rent is still pretty high on the outer islands.
Failing that, I'm told the British virgin islands and the rest heading south towards the main continent of South America are pretty nice. I have no idea what it would be like to live there however. ^^
Also, I'm told cost of living on the smaller island communities in the Straight of Georgia is below average, or there abouts.
We have cable modem internet and stuff so I think it´s the best place.
Brazil government doesn´t have any problem with foreigners who move onto here.
And I think São Paulo, where I live, is more like an american city than any other in my country.
Think about it!
Argentina, and Brazil top my recommendations. Argentina has a good city life, is very warm, not a big cost of living, if you can stand a hit to your paycheck.
Brazil has a large furry community, lacks a lot of political strife (They do have issues, but far less then most places), and has an awakening economy. Low cost of living (assuming you stay away from tourist traps) with a growing need for IT and Tech people.
(P.S. I'm sure there's some tax reason as to why it has the rich expat reputation)
One VERY important thing to know however... They have something known as Squater rights. Basicly, if you leave your property unattended for a couple weeks and some local guys decide to move into your house - it becomes legally theirs.
But the country is gorgeous, And aside from it not being the safest place, it is a great place to live. And if you ever do go there, try the plantaines, they carmelize when cooked, and are to die for =3
Just remember to avoid tourists traps, and when you go to leave the country have some cash on ya. Theres a "depaurture" fee for leaving the country. Its not too much (under $50 per person when i was there last a couple years ago), but if you don't have it, your not leaving the airport. Most countrys have something like that.
