You know damn well I'd vote if I still lived in Chicago. Unfortunately, I'm out here in suburbia again.
You know what else? It just occurred to me that running a city the size of Chicago has to be a bit like running a small country. A very corrupt and fickle small country.

the position for mayor of chicago might as well be called "benevolent dictator for life" because that's pretty much how it's been for most of the people elected to the office. I don't think Rahm deserves, nor has earned that title. Dude seems way too self-serving for such a job. If the newspapers thought Daley had some cronies, I can't wait to hear what sorta stuff they're gonna dig up on him :C

Seriously. Are we gonna continue with "Chicago politics" or move on to something a little less bad? I don't honestly know much about Moseley, though. What's her beef?

Well, let's see. She's a hard-working civil servant with a pretty decorated career in the public sector, from what I can tell, and a similar civics background as BHO himself (in fact, she held the senate seat he'd later go on to have in 2004). Her credentials as a liberal progressive are pretty solid, and not very questionable.

She is against privatization of the city's parking meters, and will likely work to revoke the company's lease to operate them if elected. This of course cuts out the middleman, and reverses the impractical and spiraling costs associated with the unpopular move of privatizing them in the first place.

She's now got the support of pretty much all the leaders in the local black community now that many of her other opponents who had support and/or endorsement from those leaders have dropped out and endorsed her, which gives her a reasonable coalition among that community.

And, she's got name recognition.

Pretty much everything else I would say, I was just looking for someone who could run against Rahm, because while I'm glad he's out of the White House, I don't really want him returning to politics here after all that other crap.


A simple compare of the candidate's websites tell me that Rahm's still got some of Obama's slick graphic designers on the payroll. There's a lot of heft and money going towards him, but that could actually work against him in an environment where it feels like outside forces are trying to influence the area's politics. They're wheeling in Bill Clinton to stump for Rahm, for example.

The ballsway politicians have is sickening right now. I don't think its fair having to decide between the lesser of two evils each electoral cycle, but I trust you've done the research to know who is best.
