7 More Awesome Songs You've Probably Never Heard
15 years ago
My body moves, goes where I will. But though I try, my heart stays still.
I'll get to my Alan Wake review soon, but every time I've tried to write it, it comes out an incoherent mess. That's mostly because every time I try to write it, it's like, 4AM, but that's neither here nor there.
Anywho, another one of these!
Flimbo's Quest - Instant Remedy
Instant Remedy is a Swedish musician who does remixes of games for the Commodore 64. Information on him is difficult to track down, and his songs are even more difficult to track down, but I managed to get a hold of his discography not too long ago. The reason I was interested in him to begin with is because someone had made an gif on FA with this very song as background music, and I loved it so much that I just had to find it and add it to my music library. I'm really glad I found his full discography, because all his remixes are great, but I adore this song. It is, quite possibly, the happiest-sounding song I have ever heard. It's not really complex, but by god is it infectious.
Beethoven Virus - BanYa
I discovered this catchy remix as a beatmap on Osu! It's a nice little blend of a dark classical sound with some lighter trance, and is just very entertaining to listen to.
Motteke! Sailor Fuku REDALiCE Remix - REDALiCE
Another song I discovered from playing Osu! The original song comes from an anime called Lucky Star, a fun and silly little anime that has become immensely popular in the last few years. This is an awesome dance remix of said song, which manage to capture all the fun and random silliness of the original song and adding it's own flavour of electronic dance to the mix.
Shout - De Novo Dahl
A simple, yet fun little song about not bottling things up and going out and doing things, taking risks, and following your dreams. Originally saw this band at Lollapalooza in '08.
We Walk - The Ting Tings
The Ting Tings never fail to produce simple, yet fun rhythm-driven tunes with sometimes surprisingly complex lyrics. Though the band got some popularity with their singles, few people have heard the other song on their albums, which are pretty much just as awesome as their singles. While this eclectic indie dance music isn't for everyone, it's definitely for some, and it's certainly for me.
Pursuit ~ Cornered - Magical Trick Society
Magical Trick Society is a group of Japanese musicians who produce albums (focused on a single game or series) of video game music remixes. Cadenza was an album of remixes from the first Phoenix Wright game. Probably my favourite track from the album is their version of Pursuit ~ Cornered. Like I've said about every other remix in this installment, it captures the feel of the original while adding it's own unique flavour, yadda yadda. Just listen to it.
G/S/C Final Battle - Fairuzon
An even harder song to track down, but so worth ah. Ah, good ol' Nintendocore. A really excellent metal-ish rendition of the final battle theme from Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal.
