Remember when I said: I've come to the final decision I really, really dislike the term "Mate". ?
Okay so there I was, holding Hozz's hand, staring deep into his eyes all full of mushy loveydoveyness. Right?
"...lover, a true friend, and a life mate...."
Hozz perks a brow and I can see that little wrinkle he gets in the corner of his eye when he's trying not to crack a smile or cheesey giggle. I nearly snap my head at the Reverend and get ready to say something but catch myself before no one else present notices. Though I might count it as a blessing as it kept me from breaking out the water works.
Of the five of us there on Thursday only one person wore shoes and that was the Reverend. So barefoot and under a pirate flag.
Unconventional, but it worked. It works for us, but we'll do something for everyone else later. Right now this was what we needed for us.
I'm happy and content and that's all that matters. I've never felt more connected and close, even if he is farther away than I'd like him to be.
The better part mighta been when he was finishing signing the financing agreement for the rings and the clerk asked when the date was and he nearly shouted "That was Yesterday!?!"

Partner = Hozz
Husband = Hozz
Significant Other = Hozz
Mate = Hozz
Lifemate = Hozz
<insert bedroom name(s) here> = Hozz (eventually).

"Mate"... is acceptable for use by Aussies, maybe Kiwis; and animal breeders. It should ONLY be applicable to humans in the term "life mate", or, in very old-fashioned parlance, "help mate"... neither of which I like much... but the LGBT groups have not the same options in these parts as most folks.
Anyway, whatever the foolish shoe-wearing fellow said, GOOD ON YA, MA---... err, nevermind.
