Writing; time to branch out (advice requested)

My next writing project has a bit of mainstream potential, for the same reasons I stated in the Delphi/Malavite concept study I did in my Scraps. It's a prequel to Auran Connection, but since it doesn't involve Ri'khana (anthros), I'm considering the possibility of submitting it to a mainstream fiction magazine. I've set a deadline for myself and have a basic plot outline with character drafts ready to go.
I have two questions for the other writers out there:
1) Can you recommend any good science fiction magazines I could submit to? Preferably those that specialize in alien-centered stories. I've done a bit of research but I don't want to miss any prospects.
2) If I were to post my story here for critiques, would that prevent me from submitting to a published magazine?

you should at least try to see if copyrighting your work prior to it coming out here would affect the possibility of publishing.
once its on the net- its here forever.
other wise good luck.
it may/ may NOT let you publish outside of yourself.
