More news from the (real) cartooning world
15 years ago
Credit for this discovery goes to various regulars on the Comics Curmudgeon. The current team behind the long-running newspaper comic (and popular snark bait in some Internet circles) Dick Tracy are both retiring later this year. [link] And guess who the new writer is going to be: None other than Mike Curtis, the creator of Shanda the Panda and founder of Shanda Fantasy Arts.
So to sum it up: A mainstream cartooning book legend is writing a book on how to draw furries, and the creator of a well-known furry comic is taking over writing a famous comic strip. The world has officially gone criss-crossed.

Mandy's behind it all... I just know it!
And I've never liked it when the syndicate keeps a comic alive after the original artist retires.
And would they PLEASE stop showing reruns of Peanuts? If I want to see them, I can buy the book!
To be honest i don't think i've read Shanda the Panda, but it's still quite odd/cool.
Thanks for sharing that info :)
Is there really that big of an audience for that stuff? Or is publishing a book just so fucking cheap and easy nowadays (especially for existing proven talents)?
Hey, maybe the kids who get caught with furry porn by their parents can now just wave this book in their face and be like "NAW MOM, LOOK. It's legit! Everyone's doing it now!"
